There were a lot of details and extra explanations that I found myself tuning out but overall this was really insightful. I can think of so many people who should read this

The book is good but I give it 3 because it had the information I already had to learn years ago. Just did not want to give it 1 or 2 stars

There were nuggets of wisdom in this book, and I really enjoyed that is had exercises. However I questioned some of the external spiritual references included (seemed sprinkled on top without going into depth to explain them), and some of the guidance was not on point for me. Other relationship books are stronger (ex: How to not die alone, Fair Play etc.)

DNF book for me. This was recommended to me and I usually don't read recommended books unless I feel compelled. Overall, this book is common knowledge based. If you have low self-esteem and what to develop it that area or need help with understanding how to love others I guess this is the book for you.

This was an absolute great read!! I think this tips are useful for anyone, in a romantic or platonic relationship. The ways to be open and resolve conflict without insulting the other, are very realistic and practical. Lots of times it’s how we say things that hurt other people, so having practical examples of how to say things in various examples and how to always show love, was refreshing.

Highly recommend this book!

I've been following Jay's podcast for a few years. I was excited to read about his 8 rules of love. It's easy to visualize what he means and the written exercises are helpful to figure out how we can apply these rules on our own. I think this book is also a good way to reassure those who share a similar vision but struggle to put it into words and might doubt this is the life they want to live... but love is always the answer.

I really struggled to get through this book. Maybe this approach and perspective is great for other people, and while this book did have some good, interesting, and new (to me) concepts, it just wasn’t a great fit for me. Nothing cosmic to create eight rules of love, pretty interesting to tie in monk teachings/concepts, but overall, felt a little heavy handed for a relationship/self-help book. Just not a good fit for me.
