I was intrigued by the story line but there wasn’t enough world or character building. The writing didn’t keep me engaged. Solid themes just wasn’t for me.

I have been wanting to read more science fiction and I am so glad I picked this one up at my local library. I have read a couple Nnedi Okorafor books in the past and they never disappoint, I am glad this one was the same.
I enjoyed the journey that AO and DNA went on both physically and emotionally. I loved the world and character building. I even loved the kind of open ending it had.
I usually am not a fan of open ended type of books but I think it really worked with this one since it would have likely taken another 800 pages to actually have a "resolution" lol.
Definitely would recommend this one to lovers of sci-fi for a quick well packed read!

This really didn’t click for me. The first chapter really intrigued me, but honestly from there it went down hill. There are definitely some things I enjoyed, but more that I did not. Overall this felt somewhat shallow, and I found the middle boring. I listened to the audiobook and often zoned out because I just didn’t care about what was happening. There are some interesting themes/messages here, but I think the way they were discussed was kind of heavy handed. I thought the twists were either obvious or ridiculous. There is a romance between two characters who don’t even really have chemistry with one another, and it felt very insta-lovey. I didn’t hate this book but it hit a lot of the things I don’t tend to like in books, so I did not enjoy most of it.
I listened to the audiobook and think the narrator did a good job even if I didn’t end up liking the book. I recommend the audiobook if you are considering reading this!

A really great sci-fi book set in Nigeria that tackles a lot of topics like disability, capitalism and imperialism. It's really intriguing and well done and I loved it a lot. AO is also very cool and relatable protagonist. I only wish it had been longer because sometimes this book felt a bit rushed and I'd have loved to learn more about the world they live in and the side characters, but I still really loved this
