There are a million good things I could say about this book and it still wouldn’t be enough. I didn’t really know what to expect heading into this book, but it surpassed each and every expectation I could’ve ever had. I fell in love with every single character. The story expanded and unfolded in ways that I didn’t even know were possible. The recurring themes of colors, light, darkness, friendship, goodness, all tied this masterpiece together in the most beautiful and intricate of ways. The ending was everything I needed and more, and I’ve got the tears to prove it. I’m so sad to have finished it, but so happy for the experience. This is without a doubt, my new favorite book.

Not giving it a stat rating since I didn't finish, but I just couldn't get into this. Made it about 15% before I called it quits. It wasn't so much the story I didn't like, but the writing style. Just didn't flow particularly well for me at all.

I really enjoyed this book! I actually really loved the writing style and the way the plot unfolded. The first paragraph really had me hooked, and the chilling plot was intermixed with essentially a character study of the town in a beautiful way. I loved Sammy. I wish the female characters were as thought out and as interesting as Patch was written— I think there was a lot of room to expand Missy in particular. I know for certain this is a book I would love to re-read to see how everything fits together from the start, but it might’ve a little long to do so.

The core story was pretty good but the pace of the book was way too slow for me. I was half intrigued, half bored, and eager to finish.

This book was exhausting. The writing style was beautiful at first but by the end I was so sick of it. The author would be so vague and it was hard to tell if I missed something or if the explanation was coming so I spent so much time re-listening to parts. I love a character driven story but so many bad decisions and selfishness gets old. The thriller aspect of this story was pretty interesting and had several twists I didn’t see coming. So this is somewhere between 3-4 stars for me. I think if it was shorter and if Patch hadn’t gone to jail this would have been a 5 star book for me.
