I took this book with me on a trip to the emergency room. If my wait had only been 2-3 hours this would have been a DNF for me, but I was there for 7 hours and had nothing else to do so kept on going… and going… until it felt it like the book would never end.
This book way way too long, I didn’t care for any of the characters, despite over 500+ pages with them. And the story was ridiculous and full of cliques.
I admire the work and ambition that’s gone into such a huge book, but I didn’t enjoy reading it. Sorry.

Dang it! I really wanted to like this one more than I did. It was a little bit too slow of a pace for me, even though the story line was good.

This book needed a good editor to reduce it to where it could have been a pleasant book. The history is great, the writing style is absolutely a bit boring for my taste. I said to my friends “this book took half of my life away from me”. Of course I was joking but it could have been reduced by 300 pages…

This is the second book I've read by Whitaker. I want to love both of them more but man, I just can't. I don't like the morals he promotes. The writing in this was serious whiplash. You had to pay serious attention to what pov you were in and many times the actual timeline was off and you were left to just piece things together. Saint and her choices were tragic, and I really struggle with them. Patch's obsession understandable. I will keep thinking about this one but I didn't like it.

Kind of unravels at the end.
