A story I will have to read with son if his interest in trains continues.

This was sweet! Not the best book or the best classic I've ever read, but it was still good. Obviously, you have to take into account the time it was written, but I just didn't like some of the messages within this.

This was such a lovely children's book. It has been my mums favourite film for as long as I can remember.

The narration was fun and in a style that is quite rare, it made the book feel more personal and comforting. There were a lot of really good messages in the book. But the overwhelming desire this book gave me to go out and explore like I did when I was a kid is such a lovely and nostalgic feeling.

This book is absolutely beautiful! Not only in its spectacular writing style, but also in the imaginative- yet-realistic-and-well-observed way the children are described. Bobby is couragous and kindhearted, Peter is strong-willed and adventurous, and Phil is funny and caring. My favourite section of the book is the part with the hound in the red jersey - you'll get it if you've read it. I love the way their mother talks to them; as if they're adults. There are so many points to this book that are utterly endearing - Perk's birthday, the old man at the train station, Peter's obsession with trains, the barge. I completely recommend it. It won't take long at all to read and it's not written in confusing or overly complicated. Readitnowpleasethankyou!

My first read of 2019. I wish I had discovered E. Nesbit as a child, because I think it would have helped me to become more of an early reader.
