I really enjoyed this one. It gave Bridgerton/pride and prejudice vibe (even had a hand flexing moment). Not sure if I'll continue with the series but I did enjoy this one. I'm just not interested in the other characters.
My biggest issue was that the narrator of the audiobook sounded like an elderly
woman. This made me weirdly uncomfortable? It just was hard to envision a 25 year old woman and 35 year old man.  The voice she suited best was the old queen.

This book started out fine enough I liked the attraction between Annabelle and the duke but the plot got in the way of the romance for the most part. Don’t get me wrong I think the plot is interesting and relevant to the time period but for this being a romance it really takes away from the actual romance. So much so that after the 25 to 30% mark I didn’t really feel anything between the characters and was really no longer interested in how their relationship played out. The only thing I was rooting for was for Annabelle to not cave to the dukes desires by becoming his mistress.
