This was pleasantly fantastic! I think a lot of people because they go into it expecting... a romance I guess? But what you see is what you get. It’s a (very long) break-up letter from a heartbroken girl to her evil ex-boyfriend. Highly entertaining, extremely well illustrated, and wonderfully told in such a real and close to home manner. Also, sometimes the jock who’s only nice around you is really just the jerk everyone else knows him as.

I understand how intense and quick feelings can come about when you're a teenager, but two people who don't even really know each other "falling in love" in 2 weeks was ridiculous. The characters didn't grow, I never rooted for the relationship and I just didn't really care about any of the story.
Ehhh, this didn't do anything for me. I finished it only to find the predictable ending did actually happen. Maybe it's just too much like high school, which I didn't enjoy all that much in the first place. I could imagine my 15-18 year-old self liking it perhaps. Seemed just a bit too long...there's only so much self-involved teenage angst one can reasonably be expected to read. Handler does a good job with the voice though. The fake movies the main character cites get annoying after a short while. It would have been improved with real movies being referenced. Side note: the physical book is insanely heavy. As in, it weighs a lot due to the thick paper for Kalman's illustrations (which were good, but not integral to the story). If you want a good story with great images, read Selznick's Wonderstruck.
This was the perfect book at the perfect time in my life. Even though my first relationship/love/thing is happening in my early 20s and Min is in high school there were still so many things that were so relatable and so perfectly described. It's so beautifully written and well done. I really really loved it.
I have had this book on my shelf for years and never read it, but recently let my niece borrow it. It’s truly not bad, just not for me anymore. I was glad to see the ending wasn’t a redemption arc. I think every hetero girl has had the experience of dating someone they hyped up in their mind only to realize they didn’t deserve it late.
This was a miss for me. The style was aggravating, the characters both unlikeable and the ending rushed. This was nowhere near my own high school experience, and I found nothing relatable here. I guess I just have a very low tolerance for whiny teenagers.

As a younger kid, I was obsessively in love with the series of unfortunate events, so I wanted to read some of Daniel Handlers other works of fiction,. This was pretty good, filled with the world play and imagery I loved in those beloved childhood books. I'm looking forward to reading his adult novels and seeing how his voice changes depending on his target audience.

It was an interesting read, predictable of course but still entertaining. A girl's drama and need to force her ex-boyfriend through every memory of their relationship to explain to him exactly how much of an ass he is. But then; she is 16 LOL
I thought it was a interesting read and I fell in love with the illustrations. The illustrations helped created the feel of love and your first real love and they really encouraged the story. My first time reading it wasn't as enjoyable because the beginning is quite slow, but my second time around was much more successful. It was a cute read but I don't think I'll read it again anytime soon.
"I'll feel that way soon, any sec now, friends of loved or content or whatnot. I can see it. I can see it smiling. I'm telling your, Ed, I'm telling Al now, I have a feeling."
