This is a good book. But it's also an extremely depressing book. I don't know if I could bring myself to read it again. But it's really well done. And such a good story about the importance of truth. I've seen a lot of comparisons to To Kill a Mockingbird, which I can see, although they're quite different. It's definitely worth reading, and I think a good school unit could come out of it.
Good but heavy
I enjoyed reading this book. It reminded me a little of “To Kill a Mocking bird.” It was a little heavy for me but still good.

This book was okay read but I didnt love it and the cover of book was stunning. The writing was okay to read also the ending of book was fine. The atmosphere was fine. The paced of plot was well structured and this book was steady paced. I mixed feeling about the characters and they needed to flash out bit more

"And I decided that there might be things I would never understand, no matter how hard I tried. Though try I would.
And that there would be people who would never hear my one small voice, no matter what I had to say.
But then a better thought occurred, and this was the one I carried away with me that day: If my life was to be just a single note in an endless symphony, how could I not sound it out for as long and as loudly as I could?"
I really enjoyed this book. It addressed a lot of important themes and issues, whilst still being an enjoyable read. It looked at the way people treat one another, and I think it was brilliant in the way it portrayed the consequences our actions can have on others. It showed what the consequences of judging others can be, and also how a web of deceit can be intricately complicated, tangling you more and more the longer you're in it. Bullying and injustice were some more themes which were also explored. The book presented a wide range of important topics for consideration.
All of the ideas presented are really great to ponder, and it was quite a meaningful book. It is most certainly not a 'happy' story, so if you're looking for a light-hearted read then this book is not the way to go. I loved the characters and story throughout, which take one on an emotional rollercoaster. I especially love the way that the setting is developed and described with such wonderful imagery. I could definitely picture all of the places this story took place.
Despite all the many things that I thought were wonderful throughout the novel, I did think some parts of the narrative seemed disjointed. Certain parts of the story seemed abrupt, and didn't really flow with the rest of the events.
I also would have appreciated more development from other minor characters, such as Henry, James and Ruth. They seem to play a large role in Annabelle's life, yet they are only briefly discussed in the novel. The messages in the book are stunningly profound, but I felt that the narrative story could have been better developed. Nevertheless, overall I found it a really enjoyable book which I'm sure I will be pondering long into the future.

I loved the writing style. It kept me wanting to keep reading, anxious to find out what would happen next.

I loved this book. There was a part of me that struggled with believing that Betty could be so cold and heartless. This is a great story about courage, friendship and family. Great for children and adults.
Was not a huge fan of this book. It was well written, but very slow to draw me in. Honestly, I did not get into the characters until about the last 50 pages of the book.
