I get that a part of the appeal of this genre is the mind games along with the power games and both are usually affected by the personalities and backgrounds of the characters. Another part of the appeal of this genre is the meshing of erotic romance, BDSM along with suspense. Thus, when I read these books I fully expect some slightly questionable dynamics between the Doms and the Subs. At the same time I expect the Doms to be supportive of the Subs, particularly at sensitive parts of the book. Yet, in this book the Dom, DeVries, has such strong feelings about an issue that during a poignant moment in the book he does something so heinous that he alienates the sub and all the other Doms at the same time. So I'm like OMG ASSHOLE and then really excited about how DeVries will grovel his way out of this one. Haha silly me for wishing for good groveling. There was no groveling. It did not happen. There was a half assed apology to the sub and the other Doms that I believe we the reader should have taken as "honesty" and everything between the Dom and his sub is okay enough to proceed to the conflict that, frankly, no one reading this book actually cares about. I was so disgusted by the laziness of it that I cannot read any further. I skimmed the next chapter and gave up.

This was one of the very first erotic novels that I read and my first by Cherise Sinclair. I read it years ago and in the time since I've picked this book up multiple times. The connection and love between the main couple had such an effect on me that I'll randomly be draw to reread this again to relive their story.

As far as I can remember it was also one of the first books that I read where there was elements of angst thrown in and the main couple had to work for their relationship and fight for each other.
