Really giving it a 4 1/2. Lovely love story with some laughs and some tears.
This was a decent read. It had more fluff to it than anything and the mention of all the name brands was a bit off putting. However it was still interesting.
This love story was super bland and cheesey. There wasn't much drama or even heat, which is a major disappointment in a love story. The tale leant itself much better to online snippets rather than a full book.
If you like her personality (on her show & in her cookbooks), you will like this book. It delivers just what it promises - the story of how she met & married a country boy despite all her efforts to stay in the Big City. It is a sweet read and well worth the time it took to get through.
So much fun to read. It actually reminded me of a modern-day Little House on the Prairie as Ree and Marlboro Man meet, fall in love, and struggle through their first tough year of marriage.
I would have given it 2 stars only because it was a very quick read. But couldn't get past the fact it was written like a 12 year old's diary. Seriously, how many times is she going to tell me her knees go weak whenever she kisses her boyfriend/husband. Had it not been a Book Club book, I would have never read it.
At first I thought this was a fictional novel, and thought that the character was extremely self-centered and self focused, to the point that the love interest never even got a real name. When I realized that this is an fact an actual woman's story, it changed my perspective. I still got tired of her cowboy's strong arms, tight hugs and intense kisses, and she definitely sees everything throught the lens of "what does this mean to me", but that is probably true of everyone, and it did remind me how it felt falling in love with my husband. Not a classic, but worth reading the one time.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a simple, yet funny and true love story. It is also a beautiful book. Every page has flowers on it. Gorgeous!
This was a fun, engaging read. Thanks, Alyson, for the recommendation.
