If you haven’t heard of The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond, then you have been living under a rock...just kidding.I myself did not know of her until about a year ago when my cousin told me about her famous blog, www.thepioneerwoman.com If you haven’t checked it out, you need to. Ree is delightful, charming, funny, talented and as her developmentally disabled brother says, just “lovely”! What does this have to do with Black Heels to Tractor Wheels you say? Well, Ree originally began posting on her blog about how she met and married her cattle ranching, chap-wearing, dreamy husband, whom she affectionately calls ‘Marlboro Man’ (he doesn’t smoke but the image is all him) and it was such a hit that she has now published the story of their courtship, wedding, honeymoon-from-hell, and first year of marriage to include the birth of their first child. Fans of Ree and even those who are just meeting her will love this book! It reads like a romance novel (but better, I promise), funny, self-depricating and it reminds us that while life may not be perfect, love is…and sometimes that’s all we need…well that AND a Marlboro Man of our own.

This was an uplifting read. I really enjoyed a glimpse into the mind of The Pioneer Woman and realize she is just like me. It's refreshing to read about another empowered/independent woman that is totally in love and not afraid of devoting herself to their relationship and family. It's possible to be a strong, independent woman, yet dedicated wife and mother. And having just been there myself it was reassuring to read about her postpartum difficulties and how she made it through. There were many laugh out loud moments and many more "awwwws." Definitely a great read for fans of the fabulous Pioneer Woman. PS. I'm a vegetarian and always will be and I still love watching her cook.

Simple and cute and smiley.

A biography should name names, I can't believe Ree calls her husband "Marlboro Man" thru-out the entire book! And she never names her baby girl. Some parts of this book were humorous, but mostly it was dumb. I'm not big on appearances, so the vanity, the make-up, the fancy clothes - none of that impressed me. A pioneer woman? I think not. More like a spoiled brat...

This book was a great read. I finished it in two days. The story is so unbelievable and sweet I would think it was fiction! I would recommend it to anyone!

Finished my first book of the year. I really liked this book!

I enjoyed the serialized version of this story on Ree's blog as it unfolded. Put it all together in a book though, and I just couldn't finish it. The self- involvement, the angst, the numerous steamy make-out sessions ( that never resulted in anything more? Methinks thou dost protest TOO, too much). I've lost interest in the blog of late, got tired of the re-posting of her one studio photo multiple times, and now I think the blog has been ruined for me for a long time. Recipes are still good though.

**Edited 4/14/11** Changing my rating from two to one star. The more I think about it, the more irritated I get. I haven't been able to go back to read the blog since I tried to read this book, because reading a full dose of the self-absorption and foibles, instead of a periodic dose, really changed the whole tone, the whole vision of PW for me. Huge error in judgement, publishing this, IMO.

I'm not a romance reader. Really, I'm not. But I was intersted in this book that started as a blog, and was not initially intended to become a book. Ree Drummond tells the hilarious and inspirational story of how she met her husband. She's a city girl who falls for a rancher, who she calls The Marlboro Man. What a fun book! (But I'm still not into romance novels!)

I must start by saying that I absolutely adore Ree Drummond. Her blog is such a joy to read, and I have made a couple of her recipes so far that were fantabulous. This book has been so much fun to read, and I am so glad that she has shared her sweet romance with her fans. It felt like I was reminiscing with a dear friend. It was real and heartfelt, and funny, and just so good. I liked that she added some recipes at the end. I will have to try at least one.

I appreciated how in love these 2 are and while reading could only hope that one day I'll find something similar, but I found myself getting frustrated at some of the opinions that she expressed (although isn't that the point of an opinion, that it doesn't always match what everyone else thinks?). All in all, it was nice that Ree let me (as a reader) share a little bit of her love story.
