Final 2.5/5

I really enjoyed Twice a Quincera, so that made me want to read this one. However, as a romance, this was a bit of a snoozefest and did not measure up to Twice a Quincera at all and the magic with that one.

I was never invested in Madi as a person, and I was never invested in her and Peter.

I did appreciate the culture infused in the book and the discussions on the sociopolitical and economic happenings and environment in Puerto Rico.

I wanted to like it. But there were parts that didn’t make sense or felt like paragraphs were just missing. And the odd bit about how her cycle is always regular so she left her supplies at the hotel, I figured was leading to an “oops had a surprise period” moment but nope. Just useless information about her cycle. Why though?

Madi is living the life she always dreamed of, right down to the fiancé with the initials that came to her in a dream of her abuela, but it is not as magical as she expected. When Jayden decides to take a break instead of propose Madi needs to reevaluate what her dream life actual includes. A work trip to Puerto Rico is the perfect time to discover herself and what she wants. Add in good friends, a handsome man, and the potential for a change in career and Madi starts to see the future in a new way. This is the story of dreams and soulmates and discovering what actually fulfills your dreams.

Thanks to Kensington Publishing for providing an ARC for my honest review.

I went back and forth on this about how much I liked it and was meh about it. I think the book's last quarter, with the bulk of the love story, ultimately made me like it.
