Honestly, so bad. Hate to say it cause I was really looking forward to reading it. The book design is so pretty, it’s got that going for it. But the writing wasn’t smooth at all. In moments you wanted it to be fast, the author would drag it out and explain a bunch of stuff going on in the main girl’s head. It randomly changed pov to other people for like a sentence or two which was weird. The story just dragged on very slowly for a lot of it. Very predictable, which isn’t always a bad thing, but there was nothing exciting. There was no twist. It kinda just… ended. And everything was perfect which is low key boring.
It was cute...but... 2 1/2⭐️
I'll start off by saying I got this in a book club box. It's not something I picked out. Because the book club isn't cheap, I typically try and read all the way through each of the books.
This one was very obsessive on "love of my lives." You could legit make a drinking game out of how many damn times that was in this book.
Madi is super obsessed and tunnel focused it seems on making the dream from her 13yo self come true. To a negative honestly.
She seems to have so much going for her but is HYPER focused on finding love, and getting engaged.
Give. It. A. Rest.
Then she meets Peter and basically in love with him from the time she meets him? Come on...then 2-3 days later they're planning their life and she's buying a home and he's moving in?!

As someone born and raised in Puerto Rico, and now living in the US, i loooooved this book. I can see why someone not having been raised, or having had family to know intimate details about island life there, would not like this book. It was so nostalgic and captured the feelings someone living in the diaspora.
My one critique was the writing style. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been reading a lot of POV books, but the 3rd party writing style kind of threw me off and confused me a bit.
Other than that, it left me feeling happy and excited about going back to my home in a few months.

Started off with a lot of potential and an interesting idea about soulmates. But it’s so boring. Nothing about it has been memorable as I’ve taken breaks to read. Madi seems immature and obsessed with getting married to “JR.” almost 75% of the way through and theres still no character development on her part. There’s also been a lot of opportunities for cute rom com scenes considering they’re on a beautiful island with tons of old magic and nothing has happened.

Her dream was real in an unexpected way.
Its cute and made me want to visit PR. This is maybe not my fave romance book I've read but it's light hearthearted and easy to read if in a slump.
It starts so strong, and then they really fumble the ball wow. She's down bad for a guy that's clearly not a good match for her, and she's forcing it to happen. Girl, stand up! I can't wait long enough for a real romance to happen here. Gimme a tldr version of this please, or a cheat sheet of what parts to read and what parts are ok to skip jeez
