DID NOT FINISH: 36%

It’s boring and confusing.

I enjoyed this love letter to Puerto Rico. The description of the island, Madi's family history and ties to the land she had been separated from. And a reminder to cherish our roots. That's why I gave this book four stars. The love story was fun, albiet a bit predictable, but the setting made up for any plot-line weaknesses. Recommend to those looking for a fun and flirty read and a quick get-away to a beautiful paradise.

Thank you Netgally for this ARC. Being Puerto Rican I really wanted to love this book. The beginning drew me in and had me tearing up as I lost my grandmother almost 2 years ago and understand that bond. I found myself taking a while to finish this book but did enjoy reading about Puerto Rico and can’t wait to go back. Overall this was a fun, lighthearted beach read but I wanted more connection from the main characters.

Love of My Lives is a romance novel set mostly in Puerto Rico following Madi as she searches for the love of her lives. All she has to go on is the initials J.R. she saw in her vivid dream as a teenager, so she falls for every guy with those initials along the way until she genuinely begins to care for someone... who doesn't share those initials. The book is full of self-sabotaging, but also heart, and it's pretty easy to root for Madi while also saying "Noooooo!" when she lets herself get walked on by scuzzy men.

I listened to the audiobook on CD checked out from my library. I listened in my truck on my commutes, and it's fairly short I finished in just a couple of weeks. It was cheesy, with a few tropes that fell together all too easily, but it has a lot of heart and. I loved the setting of Puerto Rico for this novel, the writing really brings it alive in all its beauty and pain. I need to read more books set in other countries, I always have a good time remotely exploring through books.

It was cute...but... 2 1/2⭐️

I'll start off by saying I got this in a book club box. It's not something I picked out. Because the book club isn't cheap, I typically try and read all the way through each of the books.

This one was very obsessive on "love of my lives." You could legit make a drinking game out of how many damn times that was in this book.

Madi is super obsessed and tunnel focused it seems on making the dream from her 13yo self come true. To a negative honestly.

She seems to have so much going for her but is HYPER focused on finding love, and getting engaged.

Give. It. A. Rest.

Then she meets Peter and basically in love with him from the time she meets him? Come on...then 2-3 days later they're planning their life and she's buying a home and he's moving in?!

This book heavily features Puerto Rico almost as another character within it, and the setting for what is quite a sweet slow burn romance. I learned a lot about the island from this book and was happy to see El Yunque featured which I visited before too. There were a couple of cringe moments for me, mainly in Madi's (the FMC) internalized thoughts - she seems very naive and ditzy but at the same time clearly isn't which didn't quite gel for me. There were also a couple of events in the book that seemed to veer into imminent peril and killed my relaxation with this book (but did keep the pace up!)Overall a (mostly) sweet summer read.
