This is an excellent read. Hannibal Lector is arguably one of the most loved villains in literature and movies and this story creates even more understanding of his madness.

It was a good book. You truly feel empathy for Hannibal and it helps makes sense of his later life.
A prequel of sorts to the "Hannibal" books, detailing his trauma on the collapsing Eastern Front of WW II in Lithuania as a young boy, his later childhood in postwar France, and his hunt for the monsters that killed and ate his sister, with his own slide towards becoming a cannibal monster in the process . . . quite a shift in tone and setting from the previous three books, and I could understand if some fans didn't like this one, but I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Actually Hannibal is so valid
Not as good as the other Hannibal books, I had a hard time connecting this Hannibal Lecter to the "Red Dragon" and "Silence of the Lambs" Hannibal. Still worth picking up, has some great characters.
