There's something about reading stories you think you already know and finding them richer than you expected. The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is one of those stories. The Body Snatchers was, however, perhaps my favourite as it so directly related to a true crime I already knew and Olalla was the icing on the cake. I expect that like Dorian Gray, this is a book I shall feel the need to revisit.

Not really scary, more interesting than nightmare-inducing.
Pretty good, a bit dry. I didn't feel like Hyde was that bad, but maybe that's because I'm desensitized to violence.

i'm so sad that the book was ruined for me by the time that i live in, but it was still enjoyable. because of the spoilers of today, it can feel uneventful at times, but it's still an intriguing and fun read. beautiful language and descriptions make the text ever more immersive.
