Did not love. Mainly the only DC book I haven't really enjoyed... I found the "twist", if that is what it was, pretty obvious early on. While I can understand teenage angst around it for Molly when she was 14, I really found that as an adult, carrying such hatred and cutting out her mother(s) over it, ridiculous. It was so clear it was nothing but a generous, loving act that as an adult, would be easy to understand, even if there was anger around it for not being told. Honestly, it made Molly very unlikeable since I assumed it was the reason she hated her family..... Disappointing.

Diane Chamberlain never steers me wrong.

Such a well written dual timeline story. As a grown adult you can clearly see what is going on in 14yo Molly's story. I desperately wanted to reach out to her and tell her what was going on. I felt for her and her family. Present day adult Molly made me feel so torn for her. It's been awhile since I've read a book to make me feel so deeply for the characters.

A little too goodie-goodie, but still enjoyed it. I always like her books.

It was a good book about a teenager growing up with many secrets about her family being kept from her. The story progression was great and at times very heartfelt. However, I don’t think this book is genred properly. I was expecting thriller with a big plot twist but it was more drama/fiction than thriller, let alone a psychological thriller.

4 stars for a good story, but I would give it a 3 stars if rating from a thriller perspective.

I enjoyed this, another Diane Chamberlain authored work, and felt moved towards the end. But was it just me that wanted to give Molly a kick up the backside? I was a teenager once and I remember pushing back (really hard) against all the boundaries when I felt I was mature enough (ha!) to do whatever my parents didn't want me to do. But I grew up. Much earlier than Molly appears to have done. Minor
I found it ironic she hated her uncle who had never quite grown up yet she was even less so than he. As someone about to adopt a child it did not make sense that she would not view the relationship with a potential birth mother and/or the baby through her own experience - which had seemingly been idyllic until she briefly was an angst ridden teen. Overall a really well written and thought provoking book. Would have given 5 stars had Molly not been so freaking annoying through the majority of the book.
