i really love the art
jules was the very annoying comedy relief character... every single thing she said was an attempt to be funny and it was . well very fuckin annoying. i dont think her character was serious for a second.
at the end, i do not understand how jules and ell are both just ok. alma even says ell is going to bleed out and she cant stop it but when mia gets to them, theyre just ok??? that much blood loss and not even unconscious?

throughout this book, (disclaimer, this is probably a ME problem) i couldnt really tell the characters apart... and then mia gets her hair cut, so she looks like two other characters who also have the exact same style of short hair..

The trance was real—filled with enormous creative depth yet delicately narrated.

Sapphic, spacey and full of found family. I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

WHATTA BEAUTIFUL QUEER SPACE OPERA!!!!!!!!

Really beautiful artwork, endearing characters, and unique storyline. I’d love to have a copy of this.

An expansive, deep, atmospheric masterpiece of a sci-fi comic. Melancholic and slow-burning, we follow Mia, a new crew member on a reconstruction space ship, as she gets to know her new crew-mates and enlists their help in tracking down her long-lost love. Queer, romantic, and emotional, your heart will be full after reading this 500+ page graphic novel.

lovely little (big) graphic novel. i loved the characters and the mysteries and exploring their pasts and how they interconnected. i think the idea for the plot was really good, i just wish we could've spent more time delving into each of the things brought up -
i want to know more about the staircase! tell me about the hills family - are they leaders of this world? how do they lead? what is the importance of this creature that ell killed? what does it mean to the ppl of the stair case? do schools just float, and how does that affect student life? tell me about jules' childhood, and more about alma and char before we meet them, etc

i also lovedddd the art style, especially the use of colour and different palettes to show flashbacks vs current scenes, and different simultaneous storylines, watching this all blend together quite literally was really cool. i wish there had been a bit more detail on the faces of the characters in smaller panels so i could differentiate them better, i found it hard sometimes telling who was meant to be represented, especially with the similar hairstyles and stuff among some of them.

overall a lovely time tho!! glad i read it : ))

This is one of those books that throws you in the middle of the story and makes you figure it out. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the book starts very slow, so the reader may be left puzzling some things out for a while. The story line did pick up--though I am not sure how I feel about the ending, making this a hard book to rate.

I will also say that the world building is odd. I think deliberately so, since the nature of space and literal space weather are so far out that the author isn't clearly just making mistakes, but wanting to create a certain atmosphere. I'm just not sure how successful the author is.
