I do not understand why we knew who the “bad guy” was the whole time. It made the whole book boring and also was just so unrealistic - in the real world someone definitely would have reported this man. Plus, the writing was not anything stellar. I really can’t get over how unrealistic this book was…and the way we just never heard from Liam or Kai at the end was also a bit odd.

The premise was great and I was curious throughout but that ending was rushed. So many red herrings (Sarah, Nate, Daisy, etc.) felt more like loose ends. Also there was one too many timelines in my opinion.

I listened to a podcast during which the author said it was originally a single POV story about Maya, and during editorial, they added the other POV. I just want to know why??? It felt repetitive between the two. I would’ve preferred discovering Naomi’s life through Maya’s investigation.

Also I found there to be too much exposition and passive writing. I wanted to be in scene more (less “they told me about blah blah”, more actual discovery in dialogue).
