I wasn't expecting to be shocked at the outcome but was! A great thriller story that twisted and turned into itself nicely. Story was about a set of sisters 10 yrs apart with some racial & class differences who gain entrance to a secret society at Princeton where legacy and old money will always rule and probably lead to multiple murders.

“Did my silence allow for the same thing to happen to my sister?”
Well….shit. I don’t know how to feel right now. I think I need time to process this one.
I came back to say that maybe I don’t need time to process this? So much and also nothing at all happened in this book.
I have so many thoughts and questions….
- Why did we learn so many different things about Ben for him to not necessarily matter in this book?
- How could all that happen in your past and you not even TRY to tell your sister why it might not be a great idea to not be a part of the Secret Societies?
- Why would you go out of your way to avoid Lyla’s brother when you wanted everyone else to go out of their way to help regarding your sister?
Just…what the actual hell on so many things.

Society of Lies is a dark academia novel set at Princeton University. Maya, who graduated from Princeton over a decade ago, returns to the university for her younger sister's (Naomi) graduation. She is devastated when just before the ceremony, she receives a phone call that Naomi has been found dead on campus.
What follows is a dual timeline novel with alternating POVs of the sisters, who were both part of one of Princeton's most exclusive Eating Clubs and the secret society within (Greystone). As the reader, we follow along the journey of both sisters, who come to realize just how connected and powerful the alumni of the Greystone are, and how far they will go to protect their secrets and cover up their crimes.
I thought this was a fun and twisty thriller. While the Eating Club within the novel was fictional, those are a real thing at Princeton and it's obvious that the author really knew the campus and culture of this university and the Ivy league scene well.

Maya is enjoying a reunion back at Princeton while there for her sister's graduation. That is until she gets the worst news of her life. Her little sister, Naomi, has been found dead. The police are convinced it was a tragic accident but Maya isn't so certain, especially when she finds out Naomi was in the same secret society she was. Maya knows how bad things can get and sets out to find out if Naomi uncovered and secrets that could get her killed.
I enjoyed the multiple timelines of this book. We got to see Maya's time at Princeton as well as the past few months of Naomi's life. This blended in well with how Maya was doing in the present. The sisters seemed to have a similar experience of the eating clubs at Princeton and the deadly nature of a certain secret society. While Maya managed to turn things around, Naomi wasn't so lucky. I found myself suspecting everyone throughout this book, except the actual culprit! The plot twists were excellent and kept me surprised. I especially liked the ending as I just didnt see it coming!
