This dark, psychological thriller asks the question what would you do to get revenge after losing a family member? It's gripping and twisty and you won't want to put it down.

This book follows a man who sees his daughter in the back of a car window on his way home one night, only when he calls home to prove his eyes wrong, the police tell him his wife and daughter have been murdered. Unable to accept that truth he becomes a vagabond that drives up and down the interstate, looking for his missing daughter.

His story line crosses the Samaritan, a person who appears to want to help find his daughter, Izzy. There's also Fran, a woman with a child in tow, Alice, who is running from....the other people.

Tudor weaves all of the story lines together so well that you can't put the book down. Though, as a paranormal/sci-fi reader I would've loved to had that aspect amped up a bit more. As it was, the paranormal reveal at the end was a bit soft.

Overall: an excellent mystery thriller with a hint of otherness!!

3 STARS.

Thank you so much to Ballantine Books for the gifted ARC of The Other People! As soon as I read the synopsis of this one, I knew immediately I had to read it. It sounded like something I would really enjoy, but unfortunately it missed the mark for me. ⁣

What I did enjoy about this book was that it had some paranormal vibes to it. Anything that hints at the paranormal always creeps me out, so I really liked that aspect of this book. I also really enjoyed the whole idea of “The Other People” and how it linked all of the characters together in the story. I thought the story itself was super intriguing and I couldn’t wait to see how everything came together in the end. ⁣

The main issue I had with this book was that it was definitely a slow-burn and things don’t really start making sense until way later in the book. I had a really hard time getting in to the story at first because even though the premise was interesting, I felt like it wasn’t executed as well as it could have been. The other issue I had was that I didn’t really feel connected to any of the characters. I feel like I was supposed to feel attached to Gabe, but I just really didn’t like his character and didn’t feel myself rooting for him throughout the story. ⁣

Overall, I would recommend this one to you guys if you’re okay with it being a slow-burn. The story is definitely really intriguing so if you don’t mind a slower read, this one will be for you! The Other People will be published in January 2020 so make sure to go grab a copy if it interests you

A really satisfying mystery

This is a great balance of 'real' and 'unreal' that keeps you guessing which is which all the way through.
medium-paced

This is an engaging and gripping thriller. I had a hard time putting it down. There are several subplots that are expertly interwoven, and if you asked me to, I honestly wouldn’t be able to extricate them for this review. But this is a mini-review, so I don’t have to ;)
I really liked the protagonist and genuinely felt for him. He lost both his wife and his daughter, and he’s convinced that his daughter is still out there, waiting for him to find her. It’s truly heartbreaking, and this book is not for the faint of heart.

Primeiro livro lido desta autora. Opinião? Electrizante!
