The Moon and more

Sarah Dessen

this book is freaking amazing. I always thought that Sarah Dessen books would be little kiddish. After reading this one, I've already ordered more of hers. This book really opened up my eyes. I have always wanted to get out of my small town, but this book taught me I can have the best of both worlds! I can always return to my roots and not have to abandon them just because I want to leave. This book should be read by everyone... and I mean it.

I love Sarah Dessen and this book did not disappoint. Great characters, believable and relatable relationships, storyline that moves at a good pace.

This book demonstrates perfectly how Dessen has matured as a YA contemporary writer as this book is somehow quite similar to her other books and yet so delightfully different. As per tradition, The Moon and More explores topics/issues related to family, relationships, friendships, etc. The characters, as per usual, are absolutely wonderful and unbelievably relatable, with a strong chemistry between them.
Did I mention how much I love cameos in Dessen's books?? Because I do. Very very much. Which makes me wonder which characters will make an appearance in Saint Anything.

Emaline lives in the small beach town of Colby, which is familiar to you if you've read Sarah Dessen's "Along for the Ride." But this time you read about Colby from the perspective of a local, so it feels a little different. It's the summer before Emaline goes to college and she lives a seemingly good life. But in true Sarah Dessen form, her life gets a little shaken up in the course of the novel. We follow her throughout the summer as she navigates her job, her family, her love life and what it means to leave at the end of the summer.

I liked "The Moon and More," but I'm convinced that I would have liked it better if I hadn't read Sarah Dessen before. Having read several of her past books, I've come to expect romance and a certain kind of ending. This book had romance, but not in the way her other books do. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you've read Sarah Dessen before, you may be disappointed. It was still an entertaining read and I actually liked the ending, but I think the expectations I had spoiled it a little for me.

If you haven't read Sarah Dessen yet, this is a great place to start. And if you have, try to get rid of any preconceived notions before starting "The Moon and More."

I have to say, the last three Sarah Dessen books just haven't really done it for me (but I keep reading them).

They aren't bad (I think she's quite a fine writer), but they just aren't as totally consuming as The Truth About Forever, This Lullaby, and Just Listen were to me.

Such a cute story about the adventures you find during your summer break before college!! Couldn't put the book down. I started it today and finished it today!! I love the main character. She was really easy to relate to and as I read I envisioned what was happening plugging myself into the story.

Definitely will be reading more of her books!!!

My first expectation after finished this book is... it is complicated..

Well, because there so many problems in Emaline 's life. Emaline is the main woman Character in this book... she worked at colby and she has a perfect boyfriend named Luke, who was tan, sexy and already been with her since nine grade.
I thought that the book will tell about the love between emaline and luke.. no, not only that... but alson Emaline's Father.. a real Father who left she and her mom while her Mom got pregnant. Then a new boy came to her Life named Theo...
But Luke isnt a perfect boyfriend at all.. because he did something unforgivable for Emaline...

Hmmm.. i feel a little bored while reading the book... but the score is okay :)

Sarah Dessen has long been a favorite author of mine from my teens; although I haven't read her books in years, I still have at least half a dozen in my childhood bedroom. When I stumbled across this new release, I couldn't resist returning to a favorite author. And although I've grown up, I still loved getting a chance to read Dessen books again; some of the sweet innocence I remember was gone in this book, following the summer heartache and change of main character. No one likes change, especially a sudden change and I loved watching the characters grow in a matter of months. I still have other Dessen books I love more, but this was a great addition for the shelf.
emotional lighthearted medium-paced

I think this is maybe closer to a favorable three- and-a-half, but the ending coupled with the heavy family theme definitely moves closer to four.
