What can I say about this one? Well, I know a lot of people complain that there's a predictability in Sarah Dessen's writing that they find tiresome. Frankly, I've never had that problem. With that in mind, I felt in comparison with a lot of her other books, this one somehow missed the mark.

There were a lot of pieces here that were wonderful but somehow it lacked the charm of her previous books and didn't blend quite as nicely. I was pleased to have a girl who had a life situation somewhat similar to my own, in that she had a father who gave her up. But while he causes her turmoil and problems, there's no real attempt at a resolution between them, it's sort of left hanging. For something so important, I would have liked to see an actual conversation between her and her father, whether for ill or good, but it just doesn't happen. He throws essentially an adult temper tantrum and refuses to discuss it with her at all. And that's it.

Romance lovers beware- unlike the majority of her books, this one doesn't get a real satisfactory relationship. There's a semi love triangle which fizzles out and ends up not satisfying any hopes I had of a nice light romance novel for the summer. While that was a let down, I was glad honestly that she didn't end up with either guy because one was an immature social climber and the other just didn't get her all the time.

I missed a lot of the relationship building and new self discovery that comes in a Sarah Dessen book. I can pick out stand out moments from most of her other books as the pivitol point, and this one. . . I just couldn't really find one. There's a lot of things I found interesting that just weren't developed enough, such as her relationship with her half brother, her half sisters, her mother, her two best friends. . . I don't know. A lot of lost possibilities I feel.

Which when all is said and done, I really did like the main character, I just feel her story wasn't as well plotted and carried through as some of the others. It wasn't horrible by any means, but it just didn't click with me on the same level that others have.

I thought it was a good Dessen, but not a great Dessen.

I enjoyed Morris and Benji, but found the other characters rather apathetic of personality.

Nothing big ever happene. The climax was smoothed over and the plot strings brushed aside rather than tied up or cut loose.

All in all- read it if you're already a Fangirl of Dessen, and start with another of Dessen's beach reads if you're a newbie.

I didn't like this as much as her other books! This is probably because I hated Theo so much that it bothered me through the whole book. I really liked Emaline's character though!

The summer before college, what an exciting time!
This authors books are so character driven, and usually about nothing, but then about everything.... I found this book so relatable, because I had a daughter go off to college this fall, who also has a longtime boyfriend....
Spoiler after reading the blurb from this book, I was anticipating that Theo was going to be this fabulous guy, that showed Emma what the world had to offer her..... boy was I wrong, he was such a jerk, and I was so glad when she saw that and him.... now as far as loop, the romance in that relationship had to have already been over for them to become friends so quickly....
I also really like the side characters in this book, her sisters, Daisy, and Morris... and I enjoyed the little cameo appearances from the characters of Along for the Ride....

4 stars because Sarah Dessen's books just soothe me, but it felt pretty familiar, and I'd love to see her push herself in terms of story. (I also love her books set in Colby, but now I want to go to the beeeeach.)

Overall impression:
I loved everything about The Moon and More. I loved the return to Colby, the great cast, and Emaline’s story. The Moon and More was worth the wait.

I was craving a cute summer contemporary, but this book just bored me. I'm not one for Sarah Dessen's writing style (spends too much time providing unnecessary backstory and other than that is kind of bland), and none of the characters felt real. Also, both of the main character's relationships felt fake and it didn't seem like she liked either of them that much (and especially not Theo).

What the hell was this book honestly

Sorry my reviews don’t have any grammar but seriously tho

Theo was obnoxious like what so far I’ve liked most of the characters but Theo just made me wanna hit him. Like seriously. Theo was over the top like way to into himself. Here I though in the beginning he would be a great guy and stuff but no.

Luke was great I mean he did cheat but he seemed like a good guy

Benji was adorable honestly e

But this book was so not it especially if I’m looking for romance that is not there.
