I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as Done and Dusted, but still good.

Ada is working to get her business off and running when she accepts her first big job on a ranch in Wyoming. The evening before her first day, she meets a handsome cowboy at a local dive bar. She gets the surprise of a lifetime when that handsome cowboy winds up being Weston, her new boss.

This was a cute small town, cowboy romance. Due to the lack of a real conflict, I found the plot to be pretty one note and flat. The characters were adorable and had obvious chemistry, but there wasn't a lot of depth. I felt like we got snippets of their past, but there were a lot of pieces missing.

Ada is a budding designer and has taken the job to renovate the Rider family cabin. After her divorce, she has decided that she cannot rely on or trust anyone but herself. Wes immediately starts to tear down her walls. Though her instinct is to fight her feelings and flee, she eventually learns to open herself up to developing friendships and relationships and to trust others again.

Wes is a typical middle child, just floating along with nothing of his own. He feels like turning Baby Blue, the old cabin, into a guest accommodation will finally allow him to live up to his siblings. He is so honest about his struggles with depression and his openness to discuss it is refreshing. He is immediately drawn to Ada and is so patient while he waits for her to catch up to where he is at.

I am most excited about Teddy's book! The tension continues to grow!

Tropes: Forced proximity, Small town, Cowboy/City girl, Mental health rep, found family, workplace, black cat/golden retriever

Absolutely fantastic. I’m obsessed with this series. I loved Done and Dusted, but Swift and Saddled’s tropes worked even better for me. I loved these characters!
Ada: 10/10. Wes: 20/10. Mental Health Representation: 100/100. Am I going to be caught up with this series within threes days? Umm yeah. I think so. Love it.

“i knew that if i didn’t say something, i’d regret it. because i knew that i’d rather wait for ada hart than be with anyone else.”

i think this book healed a part of me that i didn’t know was still broken.

ada is a character that i relate so heavily to, especially when it comes to her relationship. i know how hard it can be to be with someone who controls you and dictates every little thing in your life, so seeing her struggle with that but also heal from it meant a lot to me.

wes, sweet wes, loved ada so much that i had tears in my eyes over some of the things he said to her. he genuinely cared for her and stood by her side through everything, reassuring her that her life and future were her own, and that he would be there every step of the way.

something i have appreciated through the two books i’ve read so far is that the whole ryder family is a vital part of the story, especially amos. i love how everyone came together (in both books) to just be with each other and celebrate little wins that they shared. and now i can’t wait to read teddy and gus’s book because i just know it’s going to be amazing.

This is definitely a light romance read and nothing to write home about, but it’s a fun and quick read, and especially between more intense or serious ones. Be warned that it is spicy (though I often skim those parts). Wes is a sweetheart and it was nice to watch Ada find a home. Also great to see disability represented through major depressive disorder, especially in a male character. I really appreciated the conclusion of this story and Wes’s faith in Ada.

This book is also a big improvement because there was no violence plus an amazing dog and cute calf. :)

I do wish that when Lyla Sage raises conversations that involve issues around sex that she would have the characters carry them forward in some way rather than going the “true love solves all sex issues” route. In both her first two books, she could have had the characters continue having important conversations around sex and its challenges, but instead they have one conversation and then it never comes up again and the issue just magically goes away.
