I absolutely loved Miller's first book with Entangled Teen, The Summer I Became a Nerd, so when I saw this pop up as an option for early read and review, I was all in. I didn't love this quite as much as the first, but it was still a great contemporary that placed us back in the world of cosplay and LARPing and nerds v. cool kids. I adored Daniel, and I felt like I got some good insight to what my own soname Kay be going through someday when it comes to the crazy growth spurts boys often have late in their teens! His struggles with tripping over his own, suddenly-way-too-big feet were so much fun to read, and I really loved being inside his head. Zelda was darling, if a bit obstinate when it comes to Dan, and I loved watching them realize their feelings for one another. So adorable.
Thank you so much to EntangledTeen for giving me an early copy to read! I'm so sorry it took me so long to write this review!

So much cuteness and nerdiness in this story! These characters were dorky, nerdy, funny and entertaining! Dan and Zelda used to be friends years ago but suddenly Dan became popular at school and he lost Zelda. Not only that, he also humiliated her! Zelda wants revenge even though she uses "for scientific purposes" as an excuse.
She's smart, quick-witted, and her eyes are so big and doe-like I could just swim in them. But don't tell her I said all that because she hates my guts.
Dan was an adorable character. Even with being popular, he didn't let it go to his head. He was still very down-to-earth and nerdy. He has so much pressure from his father and he's really getting frustrated but trying to push through everything in his life. Zelda was all kinds of weird but in a cute way. I loved how seriously these characters took LARP. I was so excited while reading about LARP! I even texted my boyfriend that I needed to go to a LARP event because it sounded so much fun to watch! Not only was this story cute and fun, as I keep saying, but the author gave depth to the characters and would go into a more serious note on a few occasions, which I really liked.
I think I would have enjoyed the story even more if Dan and Zelda had gotten more time as a couple in the book. We barely saw them being romantic and I missed that! They would have been so adorable and funny together. The romantic aspect was obviously lacking in the book but the story was still very cute. In fact, it was so cute, it didn't feel like it was for the Young Adult audience. It would feel childish but it was very entertaining especially with the witty banter. I'm pretty sure I had a huge smile on my face while I was reading this story.
Overall, a cute story with adorable characters that will leave you giggling throughout the entire story.

Loved it, if you want a fun, trashy, young adult book set in high school where it deals with popular boys and nerdy girls then this is the book for you. I loved that ending, made me smile so much in a time like this
It’s actually my first time to read a novel from Leah Rae Miller but I’ve been told that she writes really cute and funny romances and I wasn’t disappointed! This book is just the right one I’m looking for.
This is about Dan and Zelda, who used to be close friends, until Dan became popular. After an accident, which humiliated Zelda, she planned on taking a little revenge on him.
People who have read The Summer I Became A Nerd would have already met Dan and Zelda, but since I haven’t read it, I have no idea about their character backgrounds. Anyhow, I still found them very interesting, not to mention they’re both dorks which I definitely adore!
The plot may seem a little predictable but it didn’t take away the thrill of reading the story. It’s a treat to see the relationship between Dan and Zelda unfold and grow. Their banters are amusing and sweet. The depiction of friendships between them and the other characters is really great and strong.
Overall, it’s a sweet read, perfect for those in need of a cute romance with funny banters and strong friendship bonds. I definitely recommend this book!

It was a cute contemporary romance. The use of pop culture was cute, and made the story more realistic. However, the writing it was threw me off. It felt clunky throughout the book, where the author added in random vocabulary that seemed odd for the book overall. Some scenes were skipped over too quickly, and others were made more important even though they didn't quite fit with the themes.
I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.
I read the first book in this series a while ago, and though I can't remember much about it, I know I did enjoy it. When I learnt there would be a companion book to it, I thought I'd request it, and see how it was.
In Romancing the Nerd, the two main characters, Zelda and Dan, used to be really close - basically besties. After Dan joined the basketball team at school, slimmed down, and became popular, he ignored Zelda, and their shared interest in live-action role-playing (LARP) games. Zelda has never forgiven him, and she cooks up this scheme to catfish and humiliate him as payback. Dan, on the other hand, doesn't have a clue why Zelda gives him death glares at every turn, and just wants to be friends again, and maybe a bit more.
As you can imagine, any book that has a catfish situation in it, is bound to blow up in the face of the person catfishing. I recently read another book that had a similar situation, but the other catfisher wanted a relationship, not revenge. At least in this book, Zelda had a feeling that it would all blow up, but she'd planned for that, and, really, that's what she was looking for, at first. Once she realised that the Dan that most people see at school is not the real Dan, she started to fall for him, and remember why they were friends in the first place.
Dan, on the other hand, is conflicted. He's always had feelings for Zelda, but now realises that it will never happen - she just hates him too much. Once the new girl contacts him online, who seems like his perfect women, he tells her more about himself, than he has told anyone in years. He really feels close to her, in a way he wished he was to Zelda.
I enjoyed seeing the two of them grow close to one another again, and even when Dan realised Zelda was the girl online, the way they interacted was extremely cute. Honestly, the whole book was just a cute, fun story, and even though it may have had quite a few common tropes in it, I still really enjoyed Romancing the Nerd. If you're in the mood for a light-hearted, cutesy contemporary, I would recommend this.

YA ReviewMy ThoughtsRomancing the Nerd is the second book in the Nerd series by Leah Rae Miller. Each of the books can be read as a standalone, and while the first book looks really cute and has been on my TBR pile since its' release, I have yet to read it. However, I had no problem jumping right in with this book. I think the connection with the two is Dan. He was a minor secondary character in The Summer I became a Nerd. I loved Dan. I really liked Zelda too, but Dan held a special place in my heart.
As is my preference with contemporary romances, Romancing the Nerd is told in dual narrative between Zelda and Dan. This book is cute and really funny read. Zelda and Dan are both nerds at heart, and while Zelda is also a what she would consider a nerd on the outside, Dan is a nerd turned popular jock. They each have had a crush on the other for years, which is adorable. Zelda does come off as pretty mean to poor Dan. Dan never lets that discourage him though, which I loved. He knows that his Zelda is stubborn, and darn nit if he doesn't like that about her. He is just so enamored with her.
RTN-Teaser1
Romancing the Nerd is one big chase full of laughs, bickering and non stop quips. And as much as I enjoyed that, I wanted to see more time for Zelda and Dan to actually be together. I am kind of hoping that we get to see more of them for just that reason. I love their wittiness...and their bantering. I really enjoyed them. And I loved all the nerdy goodness in Romancing the Nerd. I consider myself a proud member of the nerd club, and love it when my books feature fellow nerds. I will say that the whole revenge concept made the book and characters feel a little on the younger side. Still, it was a very, very enjoyable read. I had a lot of fun with this one.
Bottom line: Romancing the Nerd is a great book for younger, young adult readers and readers that like books full of fun and witty dialogue.

Dan Garrett used to be a part of the nerdy crowd, spending his free time LARP’ing and reading comic books, but these days, after a growth spurt and a budding talent for basketball he’s become Mr. Popular.
Zelda Potts is certainly never going to be part of the cool crowd. She has a crazy sense of fashion and plays the tuba. It was bad enough that Dan turned his back on her and her friends, but then he goes and humiliates her in front of everyone. So now she’s bound on getting her revenge.
I loved loved The Summer I Became a Nerd so to say I was anticipating Romancing the Nerd would probably be a huge understatement.
I adore books about nerdy kids. I don’t know what it is… maybe that I can relate to them so well? Maybe, but whatever it is I can’t get enough, and this one was super cute for sure.
My biggest complaint was that this seemed to skew a bit younger than I was expecting. I feel like the writing and story-telling was a bit younger than I normally enjoy so that was probably the only thing that really didn’t work as well for me.
Additionally, I would have liked to see more of these two crazy kids together! We only get a tiny bit of them as a couple and that was a bit frustrating. They had such great banter and were so fun, that it would have been nice to get more of that!
If you’re looking for a cute story filled with pop culture references and nerdy happenings then you’re going to want to pick this one up right away.
Thank you to Entangled for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I liked this book, I honestly did. But it annoyed me in some parts. I didn't understand Zelda's reasoning behind things but it was a quick book and not too over dramatic. Read if you like love-hate type romances
Another good novel! I loved Dan from the first one, so I'm glad he got his own story. I really liked Zelda, I liked that as the novel progressed she grew-up a bit, and I liked that Dan remained his true self. I hope there is another story to come out of this universe, I will totally read it! Oh and yay Maddie and Logan are back! And are still adorkable as ever!
