Ahhh, where do I begin? I honestly didn't know what to expect from this since it's a screenplay; I was worried that I would have nightmare-ish flashbacks to The Cursed Child. But I love Harry Potter, and I loved this movie so much. It turns out, there is one thing we can count on in this world: J.K. Rowling will never disappoint us.

While I already knew this story from the movie, I felt like there was even more to be gained from reading the screenplay. These characters are so lovely, especially Newt (seriously, I adore him). Also, if you want to read into this super deep, I do think there is a broader message of acceptance and kindness to be found.

I just love this world. I love Hogwarts. I loved coming back home. <3

This script is just as wonderful as the movie, truly! Despite it obviously not being like the usual book, I could easily picture the scenes from the movie. It's fun to read, and Newt is so sweet.

I didn't like [b:Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Parts One and Two|29056083|Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two (Harry Potter, #8)|John Tiffany|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1470082995l/29056083._SY75_.jpg|48765776], and thankfully, this was so much better! Maybe that's because of this being a completely new story in a familiar world...
Rowling paints the scenes with all the needed information like who, where, when, and how, while still keeping the flow alive. Wonderful!

I've heard something about deleted scenes supposed to be in here - or being deleted from here - and honestly, I couldn't tell. If it did contain deleted scenes, I didn't notice (I just enjoyed the story), and if it didn't, well, then I don't know what I've missed. A fun and light read to enjoy at any time :D.

The movie was good and so was the book. However, it’s not as descriptive as a regular novel, because it’s the Script of the movie. I recommend this reading to someone who has seen the movie and is nostalgic about the wisarding world.

Well now I can't wait to see the movie!
This is exactly what I've wanted since I first started my Harry Potter Binge in December, stories set in the world but not necessarily Harry related. This one is so cute and so fun, I just feel good inside now that I know about Newt Scamander & Co.

So people who know me know how much I absolutely love all things Harry Potter. In preparation for the Fantastic Beasts sequel, I’m revisiting Newt’s adventure in NYC and looked out for little clues that could tie in with the new movie.

In 2016, there was a “come-back” of the wizarding world- the cursed child and fantastic beasts. People who know me, know that I loathed the cursed child with all of my being and also know that I loved fantastic beasts.

It’s in my sweet spot setting- the glitz and glamour of.roaring 20’s NYC, it has all the magic, it has all the little details of Harry Potter I’ve missed. I loved Newt’s introduction - his devotion to his creatures and his soft-spoken nature is a completely different protagonist from what we have seen in the HP-verse. The script made me appreciate the actor for Jacob so much more- it’s not much direction on paper but the actor made the movie basically.

But there are things I didn’t like too- As of this instalment, Tina is barely a character. I also really thought the subplot with the senators were super clunky and no explanation on how Queenie’s legilimens being so different from what we have been told in the original series.

Also- this has nothing to do with the screenplay, but stuff ON SCREEN- I HATE the casting of Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. Like, controversy aside, he’s the worst choice bc the script actually made me afraid of Grindelwald but the cinematic experience was just “oh look another creepy man played by Johnny Depp” URGH.

and now, we wait for the sequel.

Yes it's a screenplay and a quick read but I've always been a sucker for the wizarding world. The artful descriptions bring the beasts to life and, even with a thin plot, I sped through this one as quick as the monsters move.

Reading this screenplay was such a delight! Obviously I have seen the movie, but it was incredibly fun to read JK Rowling's scene descriptions. She has such a way with words, which made me thoroughly enjoy reading this.

Let's be honest, I'm a sucker for Harry Potter. Literally just the screenplay for the movie, but damn the cover is beautiful.
