An intriguing dip into the mind of a pessimistic and unreliable narrator. Just when you think you're imagining things, the story ramps up and confirms your suspicions. Left me with a warm fuzzy feeling at the end and hope for the future.

The concept of the story is really cool and I’m sure I’d appreciate the finer details if I did a reread HOWEVER I really disliked the mc/narrator.

He’s just so whiny and mopey. Also women are merely accesories to his life. Women barely have any substantial role in this story. I really was close to DNFing this book because how intolerable I found the mc.

But I really did appreciate this unique take on parallel universes albeit a bit repetitive. If I had to be stuck in multiple one room parallel universes with someone may it never be with the mc from The Tatami Galaxy. I think I would have to kill him.

It wasn't what I expected it to be, I was hoping for a more whimsical, hopefully outlook on life from the narrative even if it didn't come from the protagonist and his friends. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was still a student. The narrative relies alot on conversation to do the storytelling which I didn't enjoy either.

I didn't love this book. The structure is interesting, but the main character is at best boring and, at worst, self-important, weak willed, and insufferable. It would almost have been better to read a book about the evil best friend Ozu. He's a creep, but at least he's out there scheming and plotting. Our guy just spends his time navel gazing and hovering one rejection away from becoming an Incel.

I finally got to the end, and there wasn't even... a point to this tedium. I honestly felt like the narrator; trapped in the same depressing location for 80 days. I almost gave it 3 stars for the unique premise, but then I remembered the main character started having conversations with his own dick and his dick answered back in full sentences. Yikes.
