This book was beautiful, haunting, mesmerizing, tragic, beautiful and redemptive. Absolutely loved it, one of the best I have ever read.
What a story! I was sucked in thoroughly from the last 1/3 and couldn't put it down until I'd finished. The last part was a LONG night, but so glad I finished.
I definitely recommend this to many. And I'm not all that found of flowers!

Not my typical genre of reading, but I really enjoyed the thought and research that went into the significance of each flower. Victoria is a layered and complicated character that I enjoyed reading about from her childhood perspective.
This book was difficult for me to read. I felt that parts of it were sweet, and parts of it were almost to distressing for me to continue. The part where she just left the baby... More than once... How she treated people caused me anxiety. I thought it was a fascinating look at how living in foster homes and not having a family can affect you. The story of her time with Elizabeth unraveled slowly throughout the novel, which was clever, but the ending broke my heart. WHY???
Her relationships later in life were heart wrenching as well because she was too terrified to truly let anyone in. The way she treated that boy. My goodness, good thing he was the most patient, understanding man in the world. Although their relationship was full of silence... And it would have been fun to see them speak in the language of flowers more often throughout the novel. That was the cutest part of the book!
Overall it was a fascinating read but in genuinely caused me undue distress.

A compelling and emotionally moving story of a young woman who grew up in foster care and how she tries to build a life for herself. My neighborhood book group loved it! Read my full review at:
