This story has multiple POVs. You have Lord Tristram who is a half dragon and cousin to the king. Bet who is the king's shadow. Princess Gillian who is glad that she is no longer a contender for the throne. Prince Roland who everyone  underestimates since he's only nine. Rhinnon and Hafgan who are dragons and Sir Sidonnie who is captain of the King's guard. This was a good start to a trilogy and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

This was an amazing story. I loved the world building, the characters had depth and I cared for all of them. The heat was high and tension was thick. This is the closest to a song if ice and fire I've come in the genre. I can't wait to read the next one!

Hot mess. DNF 51%.
I couldn't get into this. It had ZERO romance or sex appeal. And it had so many different characters all giving their different POVs yet nothing was happening. It was boring and I didn't see the merit in over half the characters. Despite being about dragons it did NOT feel like the fantasy adventure I was hoping for.

The King's Dragon felt a lot like game of thrones, but with more gay main characters. Intrigues in the castle, dragons, an ensemble cast, sex at inappropriate places, murder, tiny pieces of magic.

Felt very "high fantasy", and I'm not a huge high fantasy fan. Too many POVs, too many characters in general. Great writing, just not my thing.
