Great read. Bear Grylls is remarkable character and has an inspiring story about ordinary people achieving extraordinary challenges.

The beginning when he discusses his family history is a little dry, but the SAS selection and climbing Everest (which is a large portion of the book) were exceptional. Not the best, but a very good read. The attitude he carries through all his endeavors is something I am envious of.

Interesting but it's veeeeery repetitive. I think maybe it's aimed at audiences who might not usually be that much into reading perhaps.

Simply written (very casual style, much like his TV show) but gripping. The childhood section is a bit lacking but does help explain how he's gotten to where he is now. The Everest section could have been a separate book (and I think it might be, but this is the only book by Grylls I've read so far). The section about getting into the SAS was excellent but also could have been its own book. The Man vs. Wild section was disappointingly short and really, I would have liked to know more about that part of his life. GREAT, thrilling book worth carving out the time to read in one sitting (it's one of those books that you'll stay up all night to read) but not much in the way of autobiography.

The scope of the book was vastly limited to his life between ages 18 and 23. Hard to believe at times but I have no reason to doubt his telling. Glad he's one of the good guys. Wish he would have read/performed his own audio book.

Bear Grylls is one of those famous people I've seen so much about but never really watched or consumed anything else with him in it. Survival things really haven't been my top interest. But I was still intrigued to learn more about him when I saw this memoir and I definitely wasn't bored or disappointed. One of the better books of this sort I've read

A book very much in Bear's "voice" anyone who has watched Man V Wild will recognise it. A great book for boys and adventurous girls or anyone needing a bit of inspiration. The language is clear and straight forward totally suitable for kids 10+. The message of "try as hard as you can and dont let anyone tell you you can not do anything" is a good one for everyone. Covers mostly Bear's early life with only the last part of the book mentioning the television shows he is most well known for.

This the first all out Sc-FI book that I've read. It's a great story filled with deception, violence, politics, prophecies and great characters with great dialogue. The writing is stellar, and the story never gets boring.

Have a read, you'll dig it if you're into Sci-Fi :)
