I started this book a long time ago and stopped at chapter 10. I picked this up again and almost stopped at the same spot. The FMC was very immature and annoying. I decided to push through and it was good. Solid, interesting story. fMC is naive and it is a typical, predictable romantasy
This book started me off a bit confusing trying to decipher what all the different Fae's are and all the other paranormal things, but I was hooked once I got into the story
Ryder I couldn't stand him for more than half of the book. To me he was so closed off, and in those few instances that we read his version you got to see the 'human' side to him. And I loved reading how he was feeling, because most of the time you only read Syn's part. But he definitely redeemed himself at the end :-)
Now I am hooked and with that ending how could I not read the next book like NOW!
Thank you Carol for recommending this Paranormal book and I LOVED IT :-)

Loved the story and loved the plot twists that kept it from being predictable.
This was my second Smut series after being introduced to smut on BookTok. I started with Amelia's Legacy of the 9 realms series, and OMG I was hooked. I think I went through that series in less than a week. I really enjoyed her writing style - and the enemy's to lovers trope.... This book was great! I definitely enjoyed the way this is set up. The emotions, and OMG the FMC is unbelievable.
I don't want to post spoilers, but I will say books 1, 2 and 3 in order of reading the entire Fae Chronicles series were Excellent! Plenty of great scenes, and the plot was fantastic! Not one I would go back and re-read often, but absolutely one would recommend.

One star because this books is terrible, another star because it’s so bad I actually laughed.
I have to admit that I started this series out of context reading the Playing with Monsters series first, which I absolutely loved. I got so involved that I had to let a long time pass so I could get removed from the fae world in order to read The Fae Chronicles. I'm glad I did. I'm absolutely loving it.
I can't put the book down and even when I'm not reading I think about the story. For me there is no better compliment than that.

Okay so this book had potential, lots of it but fell short, on every level!
This will be extensive but I have the need to write all the things down that bothered me:
Syn: As a heroine she fails. She is annoying and there isn't much substance to her. There isn't one page in this book where she doesn't curse. hat's all she does throughout the entire book; curse this, curse that, I hate you, I hate this, this fucking shit, that fucking shit, this asshole, that asshole. There are two emotions to her: angry and horny. That doesn't make a good heroine.
She thinks she is super sarcastic but it actually only comes across as stupid. She constantly makes bad decisions, never learns from the past, doesn't bother to think before acting and then whines when things go bad.
The Fae: I love stories about the Fae - thanks to Karen Marie Moning I am intrigued and search for books about them but in this book almost felt like an insult to them. Fae are higher, immortal beings, incapable of human emotion and understanding as such but Ryder and his gang basically are a bunch of horny bastards. They talk and act like humans, not Fae. Ryder should be this dark, mysterious, handsome male hero but in reality there is nothing mysterious about him. In this book he comes across as only a horny guy who has some nice magic tricks up his sleeve.
Storywise the main problem was that there was too much at once and nothing was treated with enough care and at times I was even confused about what it was that just happened. Hutchins didn't take any time to truly develop her characters or a complex story; she just made up a lot of characters with the potential to be complex, left them unfinished and threw as many keywords about Fae in there as possible to appear as if this is the real deal. And for fun let's just have vampires there too.
It all felt rushed at times; take the hunt for example. It's in the title "HUNT" but what actually happened? Not even one page is dedicated to the actual hunt. She runs through a field and heads to the woods. That's it. Then she feels Ryder approach on his horse and just turns around to face him. What kind of a lame ass hunt is that? Where is the adrenaline rush, making her dash through Faery? Where is the fear and/or thrill when she feels him gaining on her? What about evading him for as long as possible? Nah, none of that. Honestly, it felt like most of the story was only used to have a reason to write about sex.
Practically every conversation between Ryder and Syn turns into foreplay and dirtytalk.
Anopther problem was the fact that the outcome was so predictable. I knew pretty much after the first chapter than Syn was not a witch and there would be some "twist" in the story so she could end up with Ryder. The way it happened was just bad.
WHat annoys me is that with a bit more care this book could have been great. With more care and devotion to character depth and development this could have been filled with intriguing characters and this would have made for an exciting read - but after having finished it I felt like I had just read a fantasy porn. That's all there was.

The FMC is a witch, orphan (tragic death of parents by the hand of fae). She has a small coven, is part of assassin giuld and her first love died.
The MMC atleast one of them is the Dark Prince of fae. The fae and witches are turning up dead, and the giuld head has assigned the FMC to assist the far prince.
I DNF this one because of the way the relationship was going, the FMC is clearly traumatized by how the fae mind controlled her mother and brutalized **** her before killing and the MMC even after knowing this keeps using his power on the FMC. There doesn't seem to be aby saving grace. It's not cruel but caring it's just cruel. Being horrid on such a big scale and doing small good deeds is not cutting it. I don't like the relationship so I don't want to stick around for the redemption arc
