This is the definition of a slice of life book. While this book didn’t capture my attention quite as well as Strange Weather in Tokyo, it has that same dreamy-feel and meandering pace that makes these little snippets of every day life seem utterly enchanting.
Hitomi and Takeo weren’t nearly as dynamic as our duo in Strange Weather either. They were both a bit embarrassing. Mr Nakano and Masayo were excellent though and Mr Nakano’s escapades were quite entertaining!

- easy but repetitive/boring from mid way onwards
- Was really liking it at first cuz I thought the romantic development between takeo and hitomi was quite cute and sweet at first.
- But once they were kinda seeing each other, it became a situationship? Like it was ambiguous whether they were really serious about each other. I guess I kinda liked their dynamic cuz both of them are awkward in some ways and they resemble each other.
- I found Mr nakano a bit weird and creepy, I didn’t like the parts where he appeared or the plot was about his mistress and infidelity. Maybe it’s common in Japan that old man are this way ?
- I liked his sister though, she’s one of the more interesting characters in the book. I like how she’s v authentic in her quirkiness (making her ugly ass porcelain dolls, doesn’t care that ppl judge her for having a romance at her age) and she’s also an emotional support for hitomi 🤌🏻
- Takeo….. idk i just feel disappointed in his character.
