This is not a story which you can really rate with stars. It’s a story that feels less like a book and more like a restless dream that leaves you hanging at the end of the night. Every time I read it, it enthralls me, and everytime I finish, it leaves me with new questions. The illustrated version is an aesthetic delight, thoughtful, and clever.

Those that get it get it. Very kafka-esque, the story had me gripped till the very end and sent me spiraling into an existential crisis. We read this in my English 201 class and I chose to write an essay on Auster’s post-modern perspective. One of my favorite books of all time.
Beautiful, powerful, depressing as fuck. Auster's grim NY tale reaches new heights in this comic book adaptation, the brainchild of Art Spiegelman, executed masterfully by the great Mazucchelli and based on a tight storyboard by Karasik.
meh.. I think it's pretty impossible to adapt Auster's original story.
