The audiobook was fun, but the story was predictable and the 🌶️ was, too
I wanted to love this. The narrators weren’t bad. The female narrator was slightly annoying but overall she was okay. I’m not a fan when both people spend the entire book pining over each other. I also don’t like when half of the book is inter dialogue about how much each person is in love with the other. There were about 3 full spicy scenes and those were hot (maybe a tad bit short but still good.) It MIGHT listen if it was free and I was bored but it’s definitely not worth a credit.
I've loved every Lauren Blakely book I've read so far (The Virgin Society series is one of my favorites), but this one fell flat for me. First off, I absolutely loved Carter, but Rachel just didn't draw me in in the same way. The story struggled to hold my attention early, but it got better as it progressed until the "conflict" around the 80% mark (chapter 40 specifically), which was expected but still an eye roll. Overall a very average book.

I loved this!
I loved the dirty-talking, cinnamon roll MMC, and the ADHD representation!
A note on the narration: It was a bit jarring to have 2 narrators that voice both main characters in their own way. I didn't like how the male narrator voiced Rachel but he voiced Carter so well that when the female narrator voiced Carter, it messed with my brain. The female narrator also had a sing-song tone that felt a bit off at times. Thankfully, I also had access to the Kindle edition, so I was able to switch back and forth.
Apart from the narration issues, this book was perfect!

Blakely’s writing sparkles with its clever and engaging narrative, capturing the essence of Carter and Rachel’s playful friendship and the red-hot ramp-up to their romance in a way that feels authentic. These characters were vibrant and endearing, and their genuine camaraderie laid a solid foundation for the simmering romantic tension. The transition from friends to lovers is filled with sizzling sexual tension and delicious anticipation, and the emotional journey they undertake to get to the other side was heartwarming and satisfying.
