Slow, slow and not really interesting, she talks about every day life, me, you, your neighbor,..but the stories go nowhere and the life does.

alice munro is very good at writing

I liked Train and Dolly most.

Great short stories. I liked how the last four were semi-autobiographical. My favorites were Amundsen, Leaving Maverly, and Corrie

loved.

Read for book group. Didn't love. Didn't hate. Meh.

Read this for a book group, or I would not have picked it up. I have never been very good at reading short stories--the endings often seem very abrupt and irrelevant. In this case, for instance, where did those skunks come from????

On the whole, I found the stories interesting and engaging. I was a bit annoyed by the remark, in one of the autobiographical pieces, that Munro finds her writing to be always disappointing. From a Nobel Prize winner, that seems at the very least disengenuous.
