The characters are likeable. The story moves at a nice pace. The descriptive language is lovely. Paula Brackston it seems has found a theme; set in the Welsh countryside an odd girl/woman finds magic and with the help of a knowledgeable old witch defeats the evil magic trying to harm her or a loved one. I've only read three books by her but it seems these three all fit the above synopsis. So if you've read a Brackston book and enjoyed it you won't be let down. It's not as good as [b:The Witch's Daughter|8694522|The Witch's Daughter (The Witch's Daughter, #1)|Paula Brackston|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1441786996s/8694522.jpg|13567100] but still enjoyable.

This book was fine. It has a plot somewhere in all the words used. It has characters that are described in minute detail. It has a setting that when you have such descriptions, you don't need to google. It's clear as day.

I don't think I'm this book's target audience. There isn't much that goes on in it. Things happen but they happen at a pace that I kept wondering if this novel would ever end. Is it bad? No, it's great for people looking to relax or something to help them sleep right before bed. It's lowkey stakes set in the Welsh countryside. I feel like the back of the book mislead me or I misinterpreted things to where the two stories would have more interaction than there was. I kept waiting for that to happen. I guess it did but in such trivial ways that one can almost be like "why?"

If you're looking for a quiet novel about a woman coming to terms with new power and a story of a past Seer, then this might do. There are many other books about solitary women practicing magic though.

It turns out this book is the third installment in a series but I don’t think it matters much if you read them out of order because each book focuses on different witches.

This was a decent read for me. It didn’t knock it out of the park but there was definitely enough intrigue to keep you reading. I loved the lake magic and the ancestry of the witch line.

Finally got hold of this Kindle book today. I really like Paula Brackston. So far, 'Winter Witch' has been my favorite.

My favorite of her stand alone novels, but i prefer the found things series. I feel her time jumps were better written than in the Witch's Daughter. I also liked the heroine much more than in the Midnight Witch.

I love books that I can learn from. I appreciate authors who can bring a bit of history alive and also make it so not every single question is answered. I love authors who let their readers think.

This was a great read for a rainy day. It was full of history, romance and a ghost story that kept me turning the pages. It was an enchanting story of love, loss, and magic.

I had a hard time getting through this one, but I like the cover a lot. I also like how much art makes a difference in the lives of the main characters, especially pottery, which I don't see too much in modern literature. I feel like this book had so many characters to keep track of, even though only three or four were really the main people to follow. In reading this one I kind of skipped some of the middle bits, good ending though.

It really dragged on. I felt all of the Seren chapters could have been left off, she was boring and a lousy MC.
