Good stuff!

I'm being slightly stingy with this rating. The story was grimmer than I remember this series as being. Not a bad thing, just unexpected. Added to that was I have read the first series so I know who are the bad guys who are plotting to kill the king, but I've forgotten. Very annoying. The fault of my memory, not of the book, but I still didn't enjoy this as much as the first.

A fun adventure. Royce and Hadrian are fun as always but so are the supporting characters. The story starts of slow but everything does come together nicely. Would not recommend reading Viscount and the Witch as a standalone before this one though since it is literally a part of this book which I did not know.

Another thoroughly enjoyable book from Mr. Sullivan. On to Death of Dulgath!
