I listened to an audio book with Gail Shalon and enjoyed her reading style. So I searched Libby for something else read by her and available immediately. This title was available and dystopian fiction is right up my alley so I dove in. At first I wasn't crazy about it, then I started to like it. It's been quite a roller coaster of I like it, I don't like it. I'm guessing that this is YA book. Based on this book, I don't think kids from Colorado get very good educations. She went to the library and all the books were jumbled on the shelves by some strange numbering system so she just had to browse to find her subject? Really, what 13 year old kid doesn't know how a library is organized? There were a few other problems of a similar nature. One minute she's sophisticated and knowledgeable, the next minute some basic activity is a mystery.

I'll maybe change my rating to a three if after a month or two, this book sticks with me and seems better.

I could never, in a million years, survive

Very inspiring and impactful book , that reminds you of the value of perseverance even in the most horrific circumstances. Fast paced and easy book to read as well , that can definitely be devoured in 2 or 3 sittings (I read it in one day) . Would highly recommend , to anyone from a mature middle grade reader to an adult as the message of this story is important and ultimately universal .
