Club Dead

After how much I enjoyed Living Dead in Dallas, Club Dead was kind of a disappointment. I did like the introduction of Alcide, but I felt like the real story of the kidnapping of Bill and the whole Russel Edginton angle was just lackluster. There didn't seem to be as much suspense or crazy vampire action and it was more focused on the romance and if Sookie was going to stay with Bill or not.

As much as I didn't care for this book, I still won't give up on the series and I am looking forward to continue with Dead to the World, which my understand is that it is one of the best books of the series.

Seriously Sookie? Still attracted to your rapist? This book was good, with potential for 4 stars - But what sort of message does it send to younger readers when a woman is raped and afterwards fantasizes having sex with her rapist? Disgusting.

Many people say this is their favorite, but I actually found it the most dull of the first three. Kind of disappointed, actually.

This one was probably my favorite so far

I'm really liking this series, god knows why anybody's bothering with that Twilight shit. Sookie is such a strong character, but not overly so, and she's so easy to identify with - even though she's about 7 years older than I am. Although I have to admit that Bill is just as obnoxious, overprotective and emotionally fucked as Edward Cullen. *le sigh*

I'm hoping the next few books take us back to Bon Temps, because I'm kind of missing the antics with Sam and the Merlotte's staff, although venturing into Jackson turned up a few interesting characters such as Alcide. I was so amused that Robert Edgington's crew threw a big party for Bubba/Elvis, I still find it incredibly lulzy that anybody could coin the idea of Elvis being a mentally retarded vampire with a penchant for catblood.

Hoping there's more Eric in the next few books, I suppose it's developing into a love triangle similar to the Edward/Jacob one and I'm hoping Eric wins. I liked the brief introduction of the goblin in this book, and I'm intrigued as to the existence of other mythical creatures.

The only thing I'm not really liking at the moment is that the end of every book so far ends up with Sookie battered and bruised, moping around the house and wincing at the pain. It'd be really great if the end of at least one of the books in the series didn't end up with Sookie's face being mangled, or even ending on a lighter note. =/
