After the so-so feeling I had after the first book, and then liking Blue Moon so much, I had high hopes for this one. They fell flat. After reading this book, I am not a big fan of Ever at all. I think she is silly and selfish in this book. Even when her friends try to help her out, she forgoes any advice they give, even so far as to go back on her word, to do exactly what she wants to do, with catastrophic results. And where does it get her, right back where she started with the same problem she was trying to fix, as well as a whole other situation on top of it.
My opinion of Damen, on the other hand, has elevated even higher. He was the voice of reason and even tried to do things that he thought would help him make amends to his past. He tried to help Ever, and she paid him back by not listening and going behind his back. And even at the end, after all the problems and lies, he was still there for her trying to make her feel better.
I hesitate to think about the next book in the series, although I am probably going to read it and see where it goes. I really hope Ever takes off her blinders and starts listening to those who want to help her, and do what's best.

this book made me want to break into NASA and launch myself into the mother fucking void.

Ever and Damen have travelled through countless past lives - and fought off the world's darkest enemies - in search of each other. But just when their destiny seems finally within reach, a powerful curse falls upon them. A single touch of their hands, a soft brush of their lips will mean death for Damen - cast into the darkness of the Shadowland. But as she seeks to break the curse, Ever meets Jude - a green-eyed, golden surfer boy who understands magick, and understands Ever better than she realises. And she begins to ask a terrifying question: even if you're immortal, can true love really last forever?
Let's get things straight. I liked the book a lot.
Because it's the first book in the series that isn't a twilight Wannabe
It's the first book in the series to make magick more a part of the book
and there is tension between Damen and Ever, because of Karma and the new mysterious Jude... Now who's Ever's soulmate? Jude or Damen + she's bound to Roman. Love triangle??? Unfortunately no, but I do love me a good triangle. :)
This book is a bit more mature, and I like it a lot more. The plot was well thought and I love the incorporation of art as I heart art. Thing is I'm in the middle, because I could'nt put it down, but when nothig major happened, I was left unsatisfied. The characters have all grown up, and Ilike how the book is very based away from school, and the wrath of Stacia. Dun, Dun, Duuuun! Only problem is, ending is two similar to the one of Blue Moon. Ava's house - Roman cause of the problem - Damen Down - Ever has too make a choice. The big shock for me though was Haven becoming and Immortal. I was like OMG!!! Can't wait to see what happens with that in Dark Flame (that will be proceeded by Night Star).
The book was very well written and as usual in present tense, which I like because we don't see a lot of it. A character that always makes me laugh is stacia, because she is so jealous and i love watching her failing attempts to get damen. Speaking of the she devil - what about her asistant... Honor, taking magick lessons!!!
I have to admit this book had a lot of surprises, along the way.
Truthfully I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait for the next couple, but I can see why there are mixed opinions on this book. Probably a 4.5/5 from me this time. :)

I finally got around to reading this book after about a year. And I reestablished my dislike for Ever. She and Damen are so stereotypical, clueless, and self involved. All that Ever cares about is banging Damen, so much so that she wants to kick out two orphaned girls to have some privacy. All of Damen's talk about karma and droning on and on about his jaded life really got old fast. I really like Jude, a lot better than Damen. And honestly does his name need to be Damen and not Damon. The way Alyson Noel spells things bothers me.
Like Damen, magick, fug(?). It's really annoying.
Anyhoo. I like Jude a lot and I actually love Roman. I don't like Haven, but I love Miles.
Besides all that, I thought it was an awful book.

this book made me so angry multiple times... i just. i hate this book. the series started off bad, then started to get slightly better in the second book, then it just got WORSE. i can't continue this series but my pride is in the way. i can't.
im just gonna dive into what's wrong with this book. screw being fair, i can't bother to find anything nice to say about this book lmao
for one thing, this book seems to revolves around ever and damen's predicament in which they can't touch each other. which is fine. whatever. but the PROBLEM is ever just goes on and on about how BAD it is, even though people can have a meaningful relationship without sex OR touching each other. (ever heard of long-distance relationships? yeah. thats a thing) ANYWAYS, the no-touching thing has been solved, since they can still pretty much touch each other, just with a very thin energy field around them and it works FINE. yet ever needs to just talk about how LONELY she is even though she and damen spend reasonable time together. (i shit you not, she said she was lonely even though she was already spending some time with him.) the fact that she's so dependent on spending time with him is so. ANNOYING... i kept thinking she needed a damn hobby, because once again, a lot of her thoughts just revolve around him and their relationship. and then there was the dumb love triangle shit, which, quite frankly, was unnecessary and annoying.
by the way, ever still is so stupid and doesn't learn from her mistakes. here are some examples:
1) ever seeks out roman to make a bargain with him, even though he LIED to her and MANIPULATED her. yet somehow she thinks she can get a deal out of him and goes against damen's wishes to go to his house. like... BITCH USE YOUR FUCKIN BRAIN
2) ever accidentally performs dark magic, and when romy and rayne, kids who are experienced in magic/withcraft, tell her she made a mistake, ever just disregards them and thinks they're wrong. BITCH
there are probably more, but these are just at the top of my head. (people were mad over her decision at the end, but i actually didn't think she was dumb about that imo. i thought her decision was reasonable... though it does make it so the series has to continue, so yike)
but i gotta give props to damen. yeah he's annoying and all, but in the book, it seemed like he was getting some character development by giving up a lot of his expensive stuff. which... props to him. yet ever has a problem with it because she finds it "weird." at this point, i have a feeling alyson noel doesn't like poor people. the main characters HAVE to be rich or something, because if they aren't, they aren't that important. this also makes them super unrelatable.
speaking of unrelatable characters, haven's getting a lot worse. she's really a mean-spirited superficial bitch, and in the beginning i was hoping she'd be an interesting character. now she's just annoying. i remember how she judged the kids who rode in the school bus, calling them "retards," which is really condescending. she also dumped her boyfriend when he gave her a kitten when her old cat died, which i found to be extremely stupid. her boyfriend had the best intentions for her, but she wasn't understanding at all.
don't even get me started on the plot of this book. there was almost nothing, and a lot of the book could be reduced to half its length and you wouldn't miss anything. there's a lot of relationship drama which i didn't care or feel for. in fact, i was HAPPY that damen wanted to spend time apart from ever. they were too romantically attached to each other. jesus. the only remotely good stuff about this book is the fact that damen had SOME character development. that's all.
anyways that's all i have to say. i absolutely HATED this book, way more than blue moon and evermore. while BOTH were bad, this made me a lot angrier with it. (props to noel for inciting such emotion in me i guess LOL) but yeah, i'm halfway through with this series... and as every day passes, the less i wanna read this series.but im gonna continue anyways because i hate myself apparently and i can't let go of my pride

Spoiler
honestly? perhaps it was better for her to die... because something tells me she'll be even MORE annoying as the series progresses now that she became immortal.don't even get me started on the plot of this book. there was almost nothing, and a lot of the book could be reduced to half its length and you wouldn't miss anything. there's a lot of relationship drama which i didn't care or feel for. in fact, i was HAPPY that damen wanted to spend time apart from ever. they were too romantically attached to each other. jesus. the only remotely good stuff about this book is the fact that damen had SOME character development. that's all.

I’ll be honest, I spaced out a few times LOL but I enjoyed it! First book of the yeeeeeear
I enjoyed this book better than the first two in the series. But the introduction of Jude annoyed me. Ever and Damen already have so many obstacles to overcome with Roman and the curse, do they really need something else getting in the way. Ever still irritates me but i love Damen and the twins are great characters. I wasn't completely satisfied with the ending but i am intrigued enough to keep reading - i really just want to see them work it all out. Hopefully Ever can stop making ridiculous mistakes and be sensible for a change.

It was good with major twists and turns. Shadowland was great, but I don't know. So far Blue Moon is my favorite. I think what Ever did with Haven at the end wasn't in Haven's best interest, it was in Ever's. Hopefully Dark Flame will come with the antidote to Ever and Damen's struggles...hmmm. Good though! I'd definatly recommend!
