Wanting to smack the author's head. Struggling to contain my frustration throughout reading this book.
This is the writing style Alyson Noel writes in; incomplete sentences. ALL. THE. TIME. And it was annoying me beyond belief. Not to mention her repetitive words, her abundance of repetitive, redundant actions, overuse of comma and no sense of proper grammar at all. It's like someone who's writing so fast they can't be bothered with structuring it properly, or someone who thinks they're writing a script; everything lacks emotion and so flat.
And that's just the writing style. All the characters in this book are also annoying. Well, I quite liked Jude, the new character, but of course nothing interesting happened with that twist, which was one thing that I actually considered interesting. But nope, in the end it didn't even make a dent in the plot. A bunch of filler things happened. Nothing was solved. Our heroine made the same stupid mistakes over and over again. Everyone still has ridiculous names. The villain is so cliche and almost cartoon-like with his "big, theatrical villain speech" and "mastermind games", which is just so... comical. Almost like a parody of its own. I don't feel the connection between anyone, can't believe the main characters' soulmate-love for each other, and get annoyed both at teenagers trying to act like they know best and simultaneously use annoying teenage talk. And I certainly wished Ever would've just let Haven die, because she may be the most annoying character of all.
Anyway, some bits of the plot were remotely interesting, but of course those were the bits that weren't developed on. In retrospect 3 stars is much too generous, but since I only give 2 to total trainwrecks like the new Vampire Diaries installment, I suppose this'll have to do.

The only reason I can think of as to why you should read this book is that you enjoy the prospect of being disappointed in the world and perhaps your overwhelming sense of masochism

3 out of 5 Stars
Shadowland was good but not as good as the first two in the series.
Shadowland was good but not as good as the first two in the series.
i didnt really care for the fact that damen and ever couldnt touch but it made a fun twist on things.
I liked this series when I first started it and read the first two in a couple of days. It took me a lot longer to get through this one and I just felt like not much happened in it. At least not until the end of the story. I liked the idea of bringing another character,Jude, in to the mix. I hope Alyson Noel does more with him because I found him interesting. It made the character Ever seem a lot more normal, well as normal as she can be any way! I am still going to read the next one and see what happens. I'm just starting to feel like there hasn't been much character growth.
There is one pet peeve of mine through out the book but I can over look it for the story that's going on it. She tends to over state characteristics of certain character particularly the twins. I get that they have razor sharped bangs.

I've been enjoying this series so far but I think it is starting to wear on me. Ever and Damen's relationship is starting to get a bit overbearing and boring to be honest. Usually I will continue a series until I finish it, but I think it is time for a break. I need a palette cleanser for sure. Something a little less.....clingy.
Okay the plot of this one was better. I still want to kill Ever. She's an effing moron. I think she made the wrong choice at the end but for what she thought were the right reasons this time vs. just trusting someone else who she knew was evil.
Damen is so so so much better this time around. He's still a bit of a dummy for an immortal but he's actually evolving and growing as a person. Sadly he seems like the only one to be doing so.
The whole Jade story line was interesting for what it brought to the story not necessarily for the relationships that it created.
I prefer the twins in this book. This was by far their best performance.
Haven seems like a total selfish bitch and I kind of want to punch her in the face too.
My god, are there any likable characters in this series? Riley. I love Riley. I'll keep reading for her.
No real conclusion to the problems presented in previous books and only more problems presented.
yay. Three more books of torture to go.

The third book in the immortals series. In this novel new characters come into play and old ones cause new dramas. Ever thinks her destiny is to be with Damen, but maybe she’s not supposed to be. A place called Shadowland is introduced, which is a place for lost souls where Ever is forced to make a choice, keeping her best friend Haven alive, but turning her immortal, or sending her to Shadowland. The novel has a lot of the same plotlines that the first two novels had. It was almost predictable what was going to happen. The overall storyline was okay; it had some new developments, but the entire same premise as before. It makes you wonder what is there to keep reading the series?
It was ok. In the beginning was so boring that i stopped reading for months. In the last 90 pages gets better with a lot of surprises. I don't know I like this story and I'm excited for the next one.
