I was really interested in this book and the theme of memory as resistance, but so many plots and ideas were left unanswered and unresolved :(

the overall message of this book felt very cliché and left me wanting more to think about.. the long descriptions felt unnecessary at times but i’m sure a lot was literally lost in translation

This reminds me of an old Grimm fairytale, dreadful and inevitable, in which the characters have no choice but to accept the fate they have been dealt. In a world of YA dystopian novels, it’s always interesting to read a book where the protagonist does not fight back. I liked the alternating stories of the main narrator and her novel as she attempts to grasp her ever changing life.
