Incredibly tedious. Some interesting parts analyzing events and people from multiple perspectives, but most of the abstraction in the book reads to me as random lazy nonsense with no discernible guiding intelligence. It’s the kind of atmospheric chaos that AI excels at writing.

Enjoyed reading this, but absolutely no idea what I'm taking away from this or what to say as a review. It was like reading a dream...

No description of this book can begin to do it justice.
Pavič has stolen a lot from Borges and has done so in the best possible way. And I felt closer to him as the story is set in my end of the world.
Woods and cemeteries in the Balkans have a quality I haven’t seen anywhere else - a sort of heavy, humid air of mystery. I like to imagine that this is the kind of atmosphere Pavič was going for in his book.
