The Breakfast Club turns into a Murder Club. Like they actually use the words “murder club.” The characters are so flat, and then when secrets are revealed, that’s supposed to make them more interesting, but it doesn’t. Decent YA mystery, good vacation read, but not much more than that.

I'm tempted to give this book 4.5 stars... that's how much I enjoyed it!
The reviews on this one were pretty much divided, so I went into it not expecting much... and I ended up loving it! I loved the writing style and the plot, and the plot twists got me like, wait what???
I read Broken Things last year and One of us is lying reminded me of the latter, but done better. Not saying that BT was bad and it was not done as beautifully as this one.
Definitely picking up her other book and will be on the lookout for any future publications from the author.

It was good! Despite being set in HS it didn’t feel too young to read and enjoy but I definitely did not care about the relationships the book put a lot of focus on. I was very curious about the actual mystery and that took a backseat for longer than I would’ve liked but maybe I’m just too old :)

im sorry but the reveal really didn't pay off. most characters were annoying as fuck and the main romance was so fuckin annoying like bro i was cheering when they "broke up" only for the stupid epilogue to happen. also the whole 'queer character has a beard but is secretly in a relationship with a man' trope pisses me off so much and doesn't justify the cheating (it is cheating even if the character is queer like) but his cheating makes him the victim of the circumstances but the other girl cheating is kind of what the entire plot is built upon is so fuckin stupid like aahhhh this pissed me off so much.
