This book needs an editor. The story is great, cool world building, strong characters but I DNF because of the writing. It’s just unreadable in parts, long weird descriptions but then you get these passages of dialogue which are fantastic! I’m DNF’ing because I can’t continue for 1000 pages to find out what happens…

I love this series but I will admit that the writing isn't the best - with a litany of clichés, an overwhelming number of characters, and a few questionable writing choices. However, the world and the group of characters are extremely interesting and likeable. The connection between the FMC & MMC is addictive but I hope they expand more on some of the side characters and romances.
I'm hoping book 3 is a little better.

First book was pretty good. Lot going on and building up. This book just seems to be all over the place and didn’t keep my attention.

After finishing book 1 I was really hoping going into book 2 that the pacing would be better and more would happen and boy did it deliver!

I devoured this book in days, I could not put it down and nor did I want to. I absolutely love Darien's character, he is still so precious and if you forget about the killing he does then he is just the greatest guy in bookland.

so much happens in this book that towards the end of the book I felt like I had whiplash with the plot twists. I love the found family aspect and they all look out for each other and show up and I just love mortifier.

The only thing I did find annoying was both the MC keeping secrets in order to protect each other was just frustrating at time but my god what a wild ride.

Going immediately into book 3. Read on KU
