I lost an entire day to starting and finishing this book, and I'm already itching to begin the next in the series. Kayla Edward's writing style is so engaging and vivid. This is a fast-paced plot that is filled with suspense, supernatural elements, well-developed and complex characters, detailed and rich world-building, and romance and friendship. Everything in this book was magnified — the action, romance, plot, loss, love, lore, magic!!! And I know l'm missing so much more of what makes this book so fantastic and just couldn't recommend this book enough.

This book was hard for me. On one hand I really throughly enjoy the world building and characters but on the other it is just too long for what happened. I feel like if this book was 300 pages shorter it would have had more impact. Darien and Loren's relationship is also lack luster to me and I kept on sitting here wanting more from both of them. The last half of the book is what kept me going however it was very reminicent of the ending of book 1. The ending though was surprising and I am interested in seeing how the story now goes, however I will be taking a break from the series.

These men have defined longing and being so down bad for a woman you love that you could just die, I’m obsessed with it. There are certainly still parts wheee this feels a bit juvenile or written in a more novicey way, but I felt like the story made some really cool evolutions from book one and I am eager to read the rest
