I love a good con artist thriller and I am trying to read more backlist books I own, so I was excited to dive in! The audiobook was really good. Both narrators were engaging and it made listening a great experience! Nina is a grifter who is attempting to pull the biggest con of her life on heiress Vanessa with the help of her grifter boyfriend Lachlan. Most of this book takes place in Lake Tahoe at Vanessa family estate, which as a side note is a place that I really want to visit some day.

I like how this book goes back and forth with both Nina's and Vanessa's pasts and presents, really setting the stage for the con. However, they both share a similar present timeline, so there are a few chapters that are the same story just told from two perspectives, which did get a little repetitive after a certain point. It was interesting to read both women's POVs and how they perceived the same situations though. There were a few twists that were pretty obvious, I thought, but even though I knew where the story was going, I was still generally entertained throughout! Overall, this was a good con artist thriller and I plot overall!!

At first I really liked this book, easy to read. Towards the middle it started to feel too slow and too long, found myself skimming ahead basically to find out what happens at the end. Could definitely see this being turned into a show. Overall, an enjoyable read, but not something that will stick with me.

This was okay. A bit far fetched on getting revenge from a high school bully. Not my favorite book but not horrible.

This was a great audiobook. The performers did a fantastic job and held my attention. I am not sure I would have enjoyed it as much if I had read it. This book has a slower pace with detailed character development. It centers around two women, Nina and Vanessa, who are polar opposites. They have a few similarities and these similarities are the focus of much of the plot. They both cling to their beliefs. Both like placing blame on others. Both have major insecurities.

I really only connected with Nina. I rooted for the underdog despite that she is actually the villian of the story in a way. I found Vanessa shallow and irrational. Honestly, my opinion never really changed. The last third of the book started to bore me. When the story focused on Vanessa and Michael I kind of zoned out. I just didn't care truthfully. The twist was predictable. Only one revelation surprised me and it was about a supporting character. I still can't decide if I enjoyed the ending.
I am giving this 3 stars because the character development was thorough and allowed me to really understand the characters behaviors.
