The second book in the Unearthly trilogy pulls readers back in to the mystical yet recognizable world of angels living amongst humans, quickly satisfying their desire for more of this wonderful land. After falling in love with the way Cynthia Hand infuses paranormal into our society, I could not wait to reenter the lives of her characters. However, I soon discovered that in this installment, nothing is quite the same.
Suddenly, everything has changed for Clara. She is no longer the girl she was in the first, the new to town, new to her purpose junior on the brink of falling madly in love; she is now a year older and a bit wiser, on the cusp of graduating high school with hair that has returned to its stunning natural color.
Which is good, because the stakes are about to be raised.
This book delivers a bit more action and many more shocking revelations than its predecessor, testing and challenging Clara more than ever before. Shocking discoveries about her past and the nature of angels, as well as what they mean for her future, are both explored, creating more opportunities for breathless, stunning moments and life-threatening danger. And, although Clara is much less ignorant by this point, there is still plenty she does not know, so watching her uncover these bits of information is fascinating.
Hallowed is not just a book about finding your way as an angel, though; it is also about growing up and discovering yourself as a person, which makes it unexpectedly emotional. Although it is not marketed as such, spliced between conflict with the black wings are scenes that will force criers to soil a tissue or two. Aside from the romantic turmoil that keeps the love triangle intriguing, family plays a larger part in this novel, taking on different themes-such as deep sorrow, bittersweet hopefulness, upsetting disappointment, and simple happiness-beautifully complimenting the supernatural side of the story.
Clara's growth as a character, the intense action, and how they effect each other all make this book shine even brighter than the previous one. Those who like their protagonists inquisitive and blossoming and who want plotlines and emotions that are equally strong should not pass up this wonderful edition to a captivating trilogy.

I got to read the first book in this series, Unearthly as an ARC a few months before it came out the beginning of this year. So I'm glad I was able to get this egalley from Netgalley and HarperTeen. It means the amount of time between reading them is the same for people who wait for each book to come out, and I like that. This was probably the 2nd angel series I read, I gave it a try after I liked [b:Hush, Hush|6339664|Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)|Becca Fitzpatrick|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1311064637s/6339664.jpg|6525609]and I enjoyed it as well. In this book we jump in about where we left off. Clara is with Tucker, the boy she decided to save in the book before, even though her purpose seemed to be directing her to save Christian, who it turned out was also an angel-blood. Tucker knows the basics about Clara being an angel. In this book though, Clara gets a new vision, and since she's sure she failed her purpose, she thinks that it will be someone she loves who dies. She soon finds out that it will be, but not who she first imagines. And when she finds this out, it leads to all sorts of changes in her life. But the Black Wing from the first book is back. But her father also comes back. And she learns all sorts of things about herself, as well as angels in general. And her brother is hiding something, we do find out what, but still unsure quite why he is acting the way he is, we are left wondering at the end.
Once I got back into the book and remembered all from the first book, I got sucked back in and it was a book I had trouble putting down. So I'm sure people who enjoyed the first one will be glad to pick this one up. It actually left me ready to read the next in the series, which I'm sure there will have to be.

I was once again pulled into the story-line. I cried a lot at the end of the book because I love Clara's mom. I knew she would be the one to die though from the first dream. Tucker is such a nice guy but I figured they would not end up together. I was thrilled when the first book had Clara go for Tucker instead of Christian. Although, Christian is obviously a good person. I knew Jeffery and Clara had to be greater part angels since they had so many special abilities. Their dad, Michael (archangel?), was an interesting addition and I hope he will be around in the next book. Jeffery continues to go towards the dark side. I worry he and Clara will have to fight. Maybe, he will be saved from the darkness, however, he truly despises how destiny works for them.

Lošija od prvog dijela. Ili sam ju možda predugo čekala pa sam se nekako ispuhala i sad više nisam toliko nabrijana na knjigu i radnju. Ugl nije mi toliko zanimljiva kao prvi dio.
This book would be 3.5 stars for me, so nearly a 4 star book. I really enjoyed reading it, but for me it wasn't as good as Unearthly. This doesn't put me off reading Boundless though. I can't wait to see how the story progresses. You can read my full review here
