I think the book is great. I will be recommending it to my students this year. Only downfall was the editing!!!! There were a lot of blaring mistakes... Words that didn't belong and sentences that didn't make sense. However, I can use this to my advantage with students, giving extra credit to those that can find them:-)

This book is a prequel to the first Descendants movie. It gives more backstory to all the characters and helps explain their actions within the movie. It was fun to play “I Spy” with the characters.
This book is a good middle grade book, but If you are excepting this book is to be the same as the movie (like I did). Well, don't get your hope up, but it does give you a little insight of how the four main characters lives were before they were invited to go to attend Auradon preps. They have their adventure to get Mal's mom magic staph at the the isle of the darkness.
