Ok, so this doesn't actually deserve 5 stars in any literary capacity, I just love the Descendants universe and all it's characters, so I'm majorly biased. Plus I really needed a "mind candy" book at the moment and this fit the bill.
If you are just looking for pure Disney nostalgia and ridiculousness, then this is the book for you. The idea behind "The Isle of the Lost" is great (all the Disney villains exiled to one island and chronicling the lives of their children) and really creative, and that's what drew me to the franchise in the first place. The book itself had a very simple and cringe-worthy writing style, but where else would you find such quality topics like "Selfies"-a class in Selfishness, or "APs"-Advanced Penchants (of Evil)? It was all wonderfully ridiculous.
One important thing to note about the book however is that it is a prequel to the Disney Channel Original Movie "Descendants," and I watched the movies first and then the book, and I definitely recommend that as the way to go. That gives you a chance to fall in love with the characters and story, so the rather less-than-superior-writing style isn't as distracting when reading the novel. Now excuse me while I go read the second one.

Once again I need half a star. Cute story about the children of fairy tale characters: the good and the bad. Upper middle grades would probably like this story.
So I would admit, this book was awesome. I actually do love the characters and the whole story. Yes it's a little childish but I mean come on who doesn't love watching the Disney Princesses? It was one amazing series and I just can't wait to know of Prince Ben's plans.
Overall, 4 out of 5.

Usually I like to read more mature books but this novel was really great!! I wouldn't really classify it as YA but it's definitely middle school grade reading.
The novel is about the offspring of Disney's villains like Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, Maleficent and Jafar. Each of their kids have one goal in common. To impress their parents and try to be the most wicked person in the world. The novel is loosely inspired by the Disney movie "Descendants " which is also really predictable as this book.
I finished this book because it wasn't very long and it was a type of book that you can read if you want something fun to read. It's not dark or gritty but it's a loveable book about finding yourself and forming friendships with people you never thought you could. The book is really similar to Ever After High, so if you like it you should definitely read this book!

Okay, this book was really good.
It has such a good marketing system in a way that when you finish this you have to see the Descendants movie to know what happens next.
I am looking forward to the next book on this series, to see if everything goes the way it is expected.
